Oregonians, we need your help.

ICE activity is increasing in our communities. If you see something, report it to PIRC's hotline (1-888-622-1510) and get your phone out to record it.

My dad worked at the ABC affiliate in Portland from its inception until his retirement. He was a registered republican, and would be absolutely horrified by ABC’s capitulation to this administration’s shakedown.

This is the real ninja version of Zora Neale Hurston's "If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it."
For the people who never took took the "low" road let me help you out with some things. You don't feel worse. In fact, getting it off your chest feels much better than holding it in. And THEY don't treat you worse. They hate you the same amount as if you took the "high" road. Cuss em out. Fuck em.

While we're all discussing how it's wrong to murder someone, let's not forget this:
Democrats are amplifying pressure on the Trump administration to produce evidence that last week’s military strike in the Caribbean Sea killed 11 drug smugglers, as lawmakers from both parties question the legal basis for the surprise use of force.
Democrats pressure Trump to show proof deadly boat strike was legal
The incident has frustrated lawmakers from both parties who’ve questioned why the administration has not publicly disclosed evidence to back up its claims.

Well like I always say, no one is more firmly in the grips of ideology than the person convinced they don't have one; no one is more easily manipulated than the person convinced they're a free-thinking iconoclast; no one is more driven by anger & resentment than the person proclaiming "rationality."

Had a quick chat with my neighbor a couple of hours ago...

Me: I bet you $10 he invokes the Insurrection Act within the next 2 days.

Neighbor: I bet he nationalizes StarLink and SpaceX.

Me: Why not both?

The important difference between a committed nazi and someone who just likes to troll people by acting like a Nazi is that there is none.
This is my theory of what happened: Elon is an overgrown adolescent who thinks Nazi trolling is just hilarious www.vox.com/politics/396...

There’s something to be said about how Americans can only conceptualize of bad things as Nazi/Soviet and how that’s just made them completely incapable of placing them into a true historical and political context

Another employee told The Times that the directive to report colleagues made him feel as if he was living in the Soviet Union.”

It’s true that medieval people were very ignorant compared to us today. For instance, they would panic over mysterious apparitions in the sky, or believe that a strongman leader was blessed by God.

Writing is thinking.

It’s not a part of the process that can be skipped; it’s the entire point.
This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.
I'm sure many have said this before but I'm reading a student-facing document about how students might use AI in the classroom (if allowed) and one of the recs is: use AI to make an outline of your reading! But ISN'T MAKING THE OUTLINE how one actually learns?
