Other fact-based ways to frame these attacks are:
a) part of an ongoing GOP war against higher ed because they view it as a hostile institution
b) an authoritarian breaking any venues of dissent.

Going with the Trump framing is a choice to support the war and give credence to the authoritarian.
Every lede like this is a fundamental journalistic failure.

Disappearing people from the jurisdiction of a court is authoritarian and corrupt to the core.
It was only *after* the habeas petition was filed, per Khalil's lawyers, that the efforts to transfer Khalil began in earnest — without notice to those lawyers in the pending habeas petition.

So I guess that’s where we are now.

Even by his standards, the gutter racism of Elon Musk's attacks on federal judges of color is pretty shocking. As usual, I am not saying anyone "should" be on X, but the right-wing frenzy happening over there is alarming and dangerous. ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...
Elon Musk’s Attacks On Judges Are Getting More Racist and More Dangerous
Of the judges who have blocked the unelected billionaire’s efforts to take over the government, you can probably guess which ones he is angriest about.

Remember when the WH insisted that global HIV prevention & treatment was exempt from the freeze? When it seemed MAYBE they understood that cutting off medicine could put the entire planet at risk of drug resistant HIV strains?

Wrong. Elon Musk’s interns were simply shutting payments off manually.

The "trolling" is also part of the point. It allows them to insist they're not doing what they're actually doing, until it's too late, and then they admit "of course that's what we're doing."

Just like the "we're not doing Project 2025" -> election -> "of course we're doing Project 2025."
i keep seeing the right argue that the nazi salutes are "trolling." i think there's some truth to that, but know what exactly is being mocked. they aren't mocking the idea that they could be nazis, they're mocking the idea that they should care one way or the other.

"Dear states: you are probably right that everything about DOGE is unconstitutional. But you did not litigate your TRO well enough to get that immediate relief."

I think this is right, and was painfully obvious in Monday's hearing.
