One of the worst things about our electoral system is that it lets people who live in states that consistently vote 45/55 feel morally superior to people who live in states that consistently vote 55/45.

a lot of people don't realize that Christmas carols and traditions are actually folk memories of suppressed pre-Christian events, namely the end of the Third Age and the Fall of Sauron.

*ruffles through my jacket haphazardly* Wait, is this the "Almost Christmas" image you were looking for? No? Gee, I'm sorry!

At the bookmobile, where there’s a “would you rather” poll on the whiteboard.

Kid: “would you rather be Santa or an elf?”

Me: “would I rather do all the behind-the-scenes work and not get the credit?”

Captain Bernie Cooper of the Arthur M. Anderson later described November 9 as “one of those special days on Lake Superior - ripples of water, sunny and warm for November.

As we departed we could see the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

Just described Where The Wild Things Are - specifically the book’s design where the illustrations get larger and larger until slightly shrinking again at the end - as the picture book equivalent of a Jim Steinman song

Taking the kid trick or treating tonight is the perfect chance to bust out these costumes we originally wore in 2006/2007

Unfortunately those exact things turn out to be the hook that brings me back 25 years later
I was reminded anew that FFT, while a great game, was FULL of shit that ONLY 20-year-old me would endure without complaint.

Ok team, how are we reconciling the finally unambiguous “stones I beseech thee!” with the implication that there is something left of Ramza to refuse to bury, and that with the “let’s start new lives and families” conversation, and that with “they were never seen again”

THIS GAME IS COMPLETE

Genuinely can’t remember the last time I put this much time into a game that wasn’t Animal Crossing or a casual puzzle game. This game is still REALLY good. I thought maybe I was elevating it unfairly based on nostalgia but no, this is still in my very top handful of games.

Seconding some other very white people here to say that this isn't weird at all? My parents were born in the early '40s and I was raised calling my parents' cousins and other odd relations "Aunt" and "Uncle." Now my daughter calls MY cousin "Aunt" (as well as MY mom's cousin that I call "Auntie").
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

Had an exquisite run at Balk 2 and while I did beat Hashmalum, two things:

1) you can’t save after Hashmalum anymore
2) Hashmalum has more HP in this version, ON NORMAL, than Altima 2 did the first time around

(I know these haven’t been the names since 2007 but they are the names my neurons know)

Finished reading a biography of Eunice Kennedy.

1) wowwww Joe was a real piece of work

2) ngl I'm a little bit in love with Sargent Shriver

3) I'm not Catholic but I'm very much here for the energy in the pictured quote:

If you, at this age, still have the desire, time, and attention span to play a video game longer than a few hours, you simply cannot go wrong with Ivalice Chronicles

Owwww my pixels

(trying the classic version first)

(It’s extra funny because they’ve clearly edited it to say Square Enix instead of Squaresoft)
