Our recent work shows how AI is undermining social interactions and eroding learning communities! 😬

1. Help exchanges are now largely mediated by AI
2. Help from AI is replacing support from friends

Students now feel isolated and receive less mentorship, reducing access to the hidden curriculum

In all seriousness: the last 2 weeks of TikTok posturing and Zuck grovelling, combined with the X insanity of the last year, should show you that an app with a feed that you don’t control serves *other people’s interests* - not yours.

The irony of a tech ceo actively working against knowledge and facts, when most of cs insists on binary ways of thinking that focus solely on "facts" that are supported by quantitative reasoning, should be jarring to everyone.
Facts are a political liability in a country led by liars
"We're going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes, similar to X, starting in the U.S," Mark Zuckerberg announces

He asserts that "the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they've created, especially in the U.S."

Trump just boasted about how the stock market took off “like a rocket” after he won, specifically the S&P 500. It was at 5,853 in late October. It’s at 5,935 now. It was at about 3,800 when Biden took office. Facts just don’t matter to his supporters, though, so he can just say whatever he wants.

In the most poetically unjust coincidence in recent memory, Trump’s inauguration will be on MLK Day. We’re encouraging our groups across the country to use that holiday weekend to connect with their own communities in a day of service. 👇
Toolkit: Help Over Hate MLK Weekend of Service
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught us that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. As Trump and his allies prepare to attack our rights and divide our communities, we’re rising up with ac...
