All grocery delivery apps in New York City (including Instacart) must now pay workers at least $21.44/hr.

That number does not include tips.

Companies must also provide workers with annual increases adjusted for inflation.

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

Someone remake “It’s a Wonderful Life” but Mr. Potter believes that hoarding is morally required so he can devote resources to delivering a far future with trillions of humans while George Bailey is like, “Gosh Darnit! I don’t know how to say this except to say it:

I’m a Guardian top 100 voter and have been invited in the past to vote in ESPN FC’s ranking.

There’s no reason why that, or certainly any “most marketable” ranking that’s even more subjective, should determine if a #NWSL player gets a big salary.

Trinity Rodman has the blend of talent and charisma that makes a genuine star. It sounds obvious, but having her stateside benefits the entire U.S. soccer landscape way more than it does one single team.

Who's the first person you see in Adidas's opening ad for the 2026 *men's* World Cup? Rodman.
I've said this multiple times, but it's just so obvious that it behooves the NWSL, each NWSL club, the decision-makers in the league office, to keep Rodman (who by all accounts is leaving money on the table!) in the NWSL.

The existing arguments to the contrary simply do not hold water.

The 2026 NWSL salary cap represents less than a 1/4th of the combined estimated 2025 annual revenue of $212,300,000 (excluding expansion teams in both calculations), far less than the 50/50 split in major men's North American pro leagues.
