KC Current and WoSo, KC Development, but mostly bad jokes.
Imagine signing your first pro contract two days before you turn 21 during the Christmas break?

After a quiet dip in the NCAA market last season, the KC Current is making moves in 2025-26. With Paul, Brewer, Rouse, and Suliafu already signed (plus a GK likely on the way), the roster is looking stacked with college talent. Surprisingly few have signed anywhere else in NWSL.

Humid.

On Christmas.

Pfeiff and KC Current announce they Went Their Separate Ways.
December 24, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Mutual termination sounds so dramatic. Like a scene from Reservoir Dogs or something.
December 24, 2025 at 4:21 PM
I can’t believe Pfeiff doesn’t want to develop under the tutelage of Chris Armas.

Beth Mead gargling in a podcast mic is more marketable. There’s a consulting firm that’s determined it. So therefore it should dictate player salaries.
MIDGE PURCE! SHE'S BEEN A FINALS MVP! HAD HER FACE ON TIMES SQUARE! PERFORMED ON BROADWAY! SHE'S HAD HER OWN ******* SHOW! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!
If you're an American women's soccer league and your Most Marketable Women's Soccer Players list doesn't include Lo'eau LaBonta, Midge Purce, Lynn Biyendolo, or Sam Kerr, it's not a great list.

Any word on her injury recovery?
The Current have also extended Fridah Mukoma's loan with Beijing Jingtan FC through the 2026 season. Still no word on Feist or Zaneratto.
December 24, 2025 at 3:34 PM
I take it KC is negotiating with Feist?
December 24, 2025 at 3:13 PM
Ok. Willingly terminated for other options. Fine.

Props to Strip’s Chicken for giving their employees paid vacation through January 1st. Such good food too.

What if it's all related?

Armas: "I'll be your head coach, but *only* if there is a mechanism partially determined by SportsPro's 50 Most Marketable Athletes to sign players above the base salary cap."

JB: *pounds fist on table, spins finger around in the air* "We're doing it. Let's go."

Like losing to 2025 #SportingKC TWICE shoulda been a disqualifier...

I don’t know what this role will be like in Kansas City. With Vlatko involved in a lot of day-to-day decisions, is the head coach simply putting out the cones, running drills, and implementing a game day plan that’s set up by committee?

Whelp, we are *never* gonna get Sloane Stephens to do the KC Baby chant now…
December 23, 2025 at 9:43 PM
I don’t doubt his professionalism, but is Jeff K. 100% sure it wasn’t the Sporting KC job? Because this has “SKC move” written all over it.

Honestly? Wouldn’t have made my list of Top 3 *Former Colorado Rapids Head Coaches* to coach the Current. (Fraser, Pareja, Mastroeni)

This is my yearly take on NWSL cap restrictions too.

"What is this, garbage juice? Just make it good!"
We NEED to know your take on mulled wine. Love it or garbage juice? 🍷🤔

So here's a schematic NWSL roster in 2027. This part of it is pretty good? The issue isn't the money involved, it's the eligibility criteria.
December 23, 2025 at 7:03 PM
The NWSL release states that the HIP threshold will "grow year-over-year *at the same base rate* as the salary cap." There's a change in '27 where a stipend is removed & a locality COLA/new stipend are added, which results in the base rate jumping $900K. This means $1.9m in HIP cap in '27?

Lists can be manipulated.

Ali Riley had the most sponsorships of any player in NWSL in 2025, but didn't crack this Top 150 most marketable players list.

Great for her, but it's more indicative of the NWSL's weak efforts as a league to promote its players. It's demoralizing knowing Trin only has 675K IG followers.
