KC Current now has the 2024 & 2025 NWSL leaders in assists (Izzy & Bethune), the '24 & '25 leading scorer (Temwa), the all-time leaders for goals & assists in a single season (Temwa & Bethune), most career assists (DiBernardo), most career PKs (LaBonta), and Top 5 in career Goal+Assists (Debinha).

No player has exceeded my initial expectations more than Claire Hutton. Signed at 17, I expected few appearances in her first two years as a professional. Instead, she’s a Best XI player, Impact Award finalist, and USWNT captain.

No player has exceeded my initial expectations more than Claire Hutton. Signed at 17, I expected few appearances in her first two years as a professional. Instead, she’s a Best XI player, Impact Award finalist, and USWNT captain.

One thing lost in this: Bay FC just dropped a $1.1 million hit on their net transfer fee threshold, which is not a small amount of money in NWSL.
I wonder if they got some fee deferred to 2026 on the Oshoala move?

The biggest question mark is Bethune's knees, but this is the NWSL. The biggest question mark is EVERYONE'S knees.

The other benefit is that it clears all looming contract concerns for 2027. The only "big" player who is an unrestricted free agent in 2026 is Sentnor, and she needs to justify a contract extension with a great year. I think she'll do it.
