The elimination of USAID was an unforgivable moral atrocity that should haunt Trump, Elon Musk and Marco Rubio for the rest of their days and beyond

Doesn’t Lindsey think there’s something very wrong with a party that attracts so many Nazis? I guess not. “It’s a free country.”

I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.

The three Brooklyn neighborhoods I lived in voted for Mamdani in large numbers: Prospect Heights (82%), Carroll Gardens (70%), Park Slope (77%).

(No wonder I felt at home there.)

No doubt means the GOP will double down on efforts to manipulate the next elections.

God, I hope so. (Plus this might make things a bit more affordable in NYC! Good going Mamdani!)

This isn’t even the first time it would happen - you can literally just go back to when Eric Adams first ran for mayor, and when he got into office, to see how the media manufactured a crime wave that helped push his pro-police agenda at the expense of every other city service.

Bad health derives directly from bad policies, which is a result of bad politics, which is a consequence of a sick electorate that enables the "election" of corrupt officials who enact the bad policies that cause and encourage the public malaise. Very circular. Or maybe figure-eightish.
This graph never fails to be shocking: "The US has experienced the earliest and greatest slowdown in life expectancy improvements among higher-income countries, reported Eileen Crimmins. “We have horrible life expectancy—and it’s getting worse and worse”"

Sick country.
The attitude of the Trump administration is to blame organizations like CDC, rather than ask why America can't be more like other countries

"We can name corruption but cannot act against it, because doing so would require dismantling the very system we’ve been trained to believe is inevitable and upon which our nation, as we know it, is built."
I’ve a new piece out today.🧵

Some will say this is not the moment to criticize liberals—that when fascism is ascendant, unity against Trump must come before introspection. We are on the edge of the breakdown of democracy, they say. 1/
