The last few days have truly been a low point for the American news media. And it’s all because journalists in this country—and their corporate masters—lack the courage to say what they all know and say endlessly in private:

That Trump is stupid, and nuts.

Roughly 50% of the reason I became a Republican was I genuinely believe our national debt is an emergency and a national security risk. But after living some life it is clear to me that Republicans only talk about lowering the debt, they don’t actually do it.

If we have normal elections, and Democrats are able to get back in power we need to take a long hard look at how to enact the same kind of anti-corruption laws that helped prevent another Nixon for decades and decades and decades.

There’s no denying it anymore: the pro-democracy movement is finally back on offense.

Trump’s presidency is an unmitigated disaster.

MAGA is imploding under the weight of its own lies, grifts, and failures.

They’re not strong—they’re desperate. They’re flailing. And they know it.

I went through Trudeau/Dorval airport in Montreal four times this week and can personally attest that the U.S. departures area was a veritable ghost town ….
Future flight bookings between Canada & the US have collapsed.
Comparing total bookings held at this point last year with those recorded this week for the upcoming summer season show bookings are down by *over 70%* in every month through to the end of September.

This is how it's done.

A strong and principled response by WilmerHale to the illegal Executive Order attack - a form of attempted government intimidation declared unconstitutional by a federal judge.

This is how to guard the rule of law.

In 2021, McConnell successfully filibustered a Democratic CR ahead of a government shutdown and forced them to accept a clean one instead. What happened this week - a total cave on a totally partisan long-term funding bill - hasn’t happened in the 20 years I’ve covered Congress.

I’m sorry everyone but I’ve noticed this too
Maybe it's just the algoritm, but at this moment, the only people I see standing up for democracy are excommunicated Republicans and a few, mostly female, democrates of color. With this guy at the for front.

Maybe it's time for a new party, with actual principles.
With the House in recess and so much to discuss, House Republicans have plenty of time for town halls - but they’d rather ignore their constituents.

Demand they hold town halls!

As much as I love the Kennedy Center, I wholeheartedly agree with this. Also who is going to want to go anyway now that the shows will all be that one opera guy, Kid Rock and "Christian*" musicals that Jesus would flipped tables over?

Military aid to Ukraine has always been a bargain for the U.S.

We degraded Russia’s armed forces and replaced our own stockpiles with brand new weapons, all while brave Ukrainians— not Americans—fought the Russians off.

Halting that aid is not only morally repulsive, it’s plain stupid.
