gender dysphoria is a useful concept to explain why facilitating transition is a legitimate state interest. if transition is merely an expression of bodily autonomy, why should the state devote resources to it over other expressions of bodily autonomy like tattoos or piercings?
(Also the trial measures blockers’ impact on “gender dysphoria,” which some of us have been saying for years is an inherently pathologising diagnosis easily manipulated to curtail bodily autonomy, but ☕️🐸)

The issue isn't who gets representation, it's that once you start unwinding federalism, why stop at presidential elections? Why bother having "states" at all other than as national administrative boundaries?

Sorry, but this is nonsensical. Federalism isn't a binary. Elect the President by national popular vote and both the little and the big empty states STILL get overrepresented in the Senate, which, need I remind you, confirms judicial and other nominations.

i have reviewed this thread in light of new information and have concluded i was completely right the first time. i should never have assumed good faith from a man who posted the gross ass shit i quoted. i humbly retract my mea culpa and promise to do better in the future.
OK, looking more carefully, I think I was overreacting to language I saw as objectifying out of context. I guess my more important point was that helping young men get laid is a bread-and-circuses approach to appealing to young men, which fails to address the underlying misogyny driving them right
