What’s that? Not just a crust for you, did something go awry?
Did they tell you they were sorry that, today, we must deny
Even a crumb of comfort? Were you really fed a lie?
Waiting for the slice you were promised of the billionaire’s pie.

Did you get none of the filling because the demand for it was high?
Did the hungriest get served first as the days and weeks went by?
Did the rich prioritise the starving to make sure they wouldn’t die?
How blessed are the downtrodden who receive the billionaire’s pie.

The billionaire’s pie

2.
Did you line up for your serving, did you exclaim “oh my!
There are so many people who want feeding from our guy.”
Did you wait in line all patiently, and not roll your eyes or sigh
And say we’ll all be grateful yet for the good billionaire’s pie.

The billionaire’s pie

Did you enjoy your rightful slice of the billionaire’s pie?
Did it taste delicious, did it fully satisfy?
Did their wealth and generosity mean you didn’t have to buy
A weighty ample plateful of the kind billionaire’s pie.

I’d not heard of this brilliant novel until I was lent a copy last month, nor of Martin Scorcese’s film of it either.

It’s become a thing that Keir Starmer loved Orange Juice, and quite rightly so. But he must’ve loved other bands too. I think we have the right to know…did he like other Postcard bands? Was he enamoured of the bands on Kitchenware? What of the Jazz Butcher?

It is April 2026. In a remote part of Hunan province, China, an impoverished agricultural worker becomes the last adult human on earth to learn that Gary Numan is in fact a few days older than Gary Oldman.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice In Chains (none of whom I especially care for).

There must be a word in German, Japanese or another language that describes that feeling where you momentarily forget that you’ve recently found something you had mislaid and you’re still pondering where it might be.

It’s a strange thing that listening to newly released Nick Drake material on a device that he could never have imagined, via a corporate entity bigger than any record label, through a speaker with no wires. His listening experiences would have been more akin to technology from the 1920s.

My only Glastonbury. I can barely recall seeing any of these bands. I remember Suggs giving us score updates in real time from the Maradona hand of God game during Madness’ set.
