Love that the woman on the left was probably going for most holy Christian at Christmastime and instead comes across as most boring dominatrix in the dungeon
LOL -- Trump announces that his new healthcare plan, which he says was inspired by watching the pharma CEOs kiss his ass, is simply asking the healthcare companies to lower their prices

The President, at 79 years of age, is simultaneously the strongest, healthiest individual to ever walk the face of the earth, the likes of which doctors marvel at, and someone who suffers from a prolonged hand injury from *checks notes* shaking hands
Q: Can you explain what's going on with the bandages on Trump's hand?

LEAVITT: We've given you an explanation. The president is literally constantly shaking hands.

Really enjoyed editing this @punkademic.bsky.social piece for @pghcitypaper.com about two of our city's analog repair shops.
In a digital world, Pittsburgh is an analog paradise
At places like Galaxie Electronics and Bernie's Photo Center, young people are relearning the joys of vinyl, film, and slowing down.

omg. Kat Abughazaleh just posted that if she's elected, she'll swear in on a copy of Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower.

If you were elected to public office (never mind whether you'd ever actually run), what book would you swear in on?

As an engineering major, psychology electives helped prepare for all the weirdos in the workplace
This is actually a good example of why the customer model is wrong.

I wouldn't have chosen poetry writing, but UNC made me take a class. And it absolutely made me become a much better writer, with an eye to concision and an ear now trained to the rhythm of words. I'm a better historian as a result.
If you are providing me with an education that is low utility in the world then it’s a disservice. My composition class spent four weeks on poetry. I’m sorry, but that only would’ve been useful if I wanted to be a poet. I don’t need to know iambic pentameter in order to be a victim advocate.

Gonna call it a deadly campaign on sugar when I murder this slice of red velvet cake
Since when is illegal execution called a deadly campaign?
The top U.S. military officer overseeing operations in Latin America met privately with lawmakers, days before he is due to step down prematurely amid tension with the Trump administration over its deadly counternarcotics campaign there.

I love it more than life itself

Meanwhile something actually useful would be for handicapped ppl to actually be able to not get their mobility assistance items destroyed by the airlines. But that sounds a lot harder than installing some pull up bars for the dude bros.

My dad’s favorite version of ‘bookin’ was ‘hauling the mail.’ Like, what’s going on with the postal service? Why are they in such a hurry? Just a mystery to me. But ok, dad. I guess.
I personally miss book. That boy was bookin. Had to book home.

Is he fast?
Yeah he books

This is fine and just like I constantly address my cat as ‘your highness.’ For she is much more majestic than that rotting sack of bile and hatred.

And yet not smart enough to realize that they were throwing in with the more misogynistic party. Cue the teeny tiny violins.
This quote from one House GOP woman, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggests a good old fashioned Feminine Mystique “click” moment: “We aren’t taken seriously. You have women who are very accomplished, very successful, who have earned the merit, who aren’t given the time of the day.”
Shocking to see Stefanik, Greene, and Mace figure out they're disposable to MAGA. It's almost as if they lent their being to a movement that doesn't even recognize their humanity.

When I talk to students about public speaking or teaching, I always bring this up: Just tell people when you don't know something! It's remarkably powerful b/c it signals to your audience that you know the boundaries of your expertise and they can trust what you DO talk about.
completely outside of politics, this is so charming

When I was at my first law firm job, I was sexually harassed by a client and not only did my two male colleagues who were there just sit there, one went back and told the whole firm which made it the running firm joke for months. So not surprised at all.
I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.
