Requiring temporary visitors to surrender five years of social media to the U.S. sends the message that the American commitment to free speech is pretense. This simply is not the behavior of a country confident in its freedoms.

It's a threat to free speech around the world and must be opposed.
Foreign tourists could be required to disclose 5 years of social media histories under Trump administration plan
The Customs and Border Protection proposal would apply even to countries that don't require visas to enter.

Unearthed 2016 video: Pete Hegseth straight up says US troops will not follow ‘unlawful orders’ from the commander-in-chief, and there have to be consequences for ‘abject war crimes’.

Guess it suddenly gets blurry when it’s Trump issuing the unlawful orders.

When the Supreme Court allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t worry because if they’re detained, agents will “promptly let the individual go.”

For these Americans, that wasn’t true.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And…

They’re walking through “dark factories” where robots run the show so efficiently the lights don’t even need to be on.

Kudos to Catelin Drey on her victory in Iowa.

This is a district that Trump won easily last November. It's one special election, yes. But it's a sign of hope and another reminder that every election is important.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
HUGE FLIP: Democrat Catelin Drey wins deep-red state Senate seat in Iowa, breaking the GOP's supermajority.

Drey won by 11 points in a district Donald Trump carried by 11 points last year. It's another massive overperformance. The Iowa GOP should be very worried for the midterms.

Catelin Drey's victory may portend more good news for Democrats next year
