There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers.

Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

Is human consumption economically necessary in a future where human labour is technologically obsolete?

Here's a brief and mildly provocative sketch of my argument for why it isn't.

I would love to read any critiques of this position. ChatGPT 4.5 tells me it's a valid argument

People often think humans are necessary for the world economy to function because humans are the only source of economic demand. But this is incorrect. There is another kind of economic consumer that is not human - governments.

How utterly shameless could JD #Vance possibly be to, as a #VP, dare to accuse an elected head of state, invited as a guest to the oval office, of "disrespecting" #Trump or the #UnitedStates when he clearly did NO SUCH THING... in what way did #Zelenskyy do or say anything disrespectful ???

What are the most promising otc supplements for slowing neurodegeneration?

Particularly in cases of ALS, or non-length dependent axonal polyneuropathies?

I would appreciate links to papers investigating the efficacy of such supplements.

There are many who have strong personal objections to #AssistedDying . They have the right to not take that route. But should they, or the state, have the right to deny that route to those who do want to take it? Should they have the right to impose their views on all?
No!

So MPs vote 330 to 275 in favour of the #AssistedDying Bill & so bring hope & comfort to so many. It has the strongest safeguards in the world & by keeping issue in public eye as it goes forward for further consideration, we have best chance of improving palliative care too @dignityindying.org.uk

The UK should give people the right to die in peace.

People who don't want it should be protected from coercion.

But there is nothing more selfish and cruel than to force other people to endure insufferable pain that cannot be effectively managed by palliative care.

For years, some of us have fought back against terrible misinformation that somehow attributed Covid vaccines to a big risk of heart problems.

It’s always been Covid infection, not the Covid vaccine.

Yet another study revealing the truth:

People who had severe infections are especially vulnerable.

I agree we should not be burning stuff. But now that coal is gone if you explore annual electricity-related emissions from the UK, the vast majority that is left is from fossil gas, not biomass. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🔋

It's amazing how much this app really makes Twitter's ghost feel like a cesspit. It's one thing seeing it happen, but without seeing the alternative it's only half the picture. What a loss to the world it was when Twitter stopped being like this... I hope this lasts.

so excited to finally announce this to the world!

what’s a probe that can get anywhere in the brain, without destroying any tissue in the way, wiring up to existing structure to extract and inject information?

sounds like a neuron :)

#neuroscience #bci 🧪👩‍🔬🧠
I had an idea way back in college which I've long thought could be, in many ways, the ultimate BCI technology. What if instead of using electrodes, we used biological neurons embedded in electronics to communicate with the brain?
