Now I’ve fully digested the Budget :

1: It is good.

2: the months of frothing was @ChrisMasonBBC wank

3: Kier Starmer is PM until the next GE

Starmer’s government, all is perhaps forgiven, for that glorious line ”We are ramping up sanctions on Russia and we are freezing known Russian assets. But let me be clear, I don't actually mean the honourable member for Clacton."

Racist slurs aren’t racist, is Farage’s latest defence.

He’s tried:
- I didn’t say it.
- Nobody was offended.
- It was ok back then.
- I was just a kid.

But he’s been doing it for years since, it was offensive, it wasn’t ok, and he definitely did say it.

A vote for Farage is a vote for hate.
Nigel Farage asked about Reform MS Laura Anne Jones (who the Senedd Commissioner found had used a racist term in a staff WhatsApp chat in August 2023 while discussing TikTok writing: “No chinky spies for me.”)
"Well, she used a word that colloquially, probably was meant in a nice way 20 years ago."

#UKBudget BadEnoch’s reaction to the budget - taxpayers pay more to fund welfare.

it’s a fair enough description of the budget - which can be redescribed as ‘Tories say we should put 450,000 kids into poverty’.

I just wonder how many Tory voters would be content with that. I’d hope none.

Vanguard is an asset manager with $11 trillion under management.

And thanks to the budget, they’re adding to UK Government bond exposures.

It seems “Rachel from Accounts” has done very well re market sentiment.

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social, the misogynists can sit down. Reeves is in charge!

@bbcnewsnight.bsky.social where’s the budget balance in BBC News’ reporting. They could have carried the BadEnoch sound bite which sounded reasonably accurate - Labour care about kids in poverty, whereas the Tories are just interested in not paying taxes.

The UK government claimed that "it is going further and faster to reform our approach to procurement so that it can shape markets and manage demand." We hope so - the Government should take the lead in making Real Living Wages and Good Employment a default condition for all public service contracts.

Ending the 2 child cap is the most Labour thing that Labour have done. Of course, Reform & Tories don't like the idea of feeding poor kids. Of course, they don't like tax on houses over 2m. Tough to square those 2 opinions without looking like a c%nt... Luckily, they can rely on the press for that.

Regarding to Budget Day 2025, I believe Rachel Reeves has taken some reasonable decisions, however they do not go far enough.

The high-value homes Council Tax premium is a dismal compromise, as this does not begin to reform the nightmare that is Council Tax.

A Land Value Tax is the only solution.

One of the reasons Badenoch will never be PM is a big chunk of the constituency she needs to make it happen hate stuff like this and she continually shows no awareness, or perhaps interest, in that being the case.
Utterly juvenile and unparliamentary antics from Kemi Badenoch during her response to the budget.

Desperate, undignified and ineffective.
