Calling all London adoption & adoptee rights activists, I'll be in London for 2 weeks in August. Departing Oz 1st August.

I'm not sure how hectic it might be, but maybe a catch-up could be organised.

Some joyful news. My brother is getting married this August in London.

He asked me to give him away. I'm beyond excited. I cried when asked. From their wedding website 👇🏳️‍🌈

There is no greater pain than to have your trauma met with silence denial & indifference.
These acts compound the initial traumatic event; when victims are forced to expend energy convincing others that they are victims; rather than on the process of healing.

Most people don't think about adoption as an issue of human rights and injustice.

If your first go to argument about the public good of adoption is to valourize your (or your children’s or grandchildren’s) struggle w/ fertility or to tell me how good an adoptee you know has it, you’re playing bingo.

You may not know that yet.🥚

Watching adoptees I’ve interacted with over the past couple years roll in to this site is so nice, like a homecoming. 😌

It’s the comradeship we’ve missed in so many arenas of our lives.

Here’s a fun National Adoption Awareness Month (#NAAM) fact: Did you know the phrase “put up for adoption” is a reference to the practice of putting orphans up on stage to perform for and be inspected like livestock by potential adoptive families in the 1800s? 🥚

I'm not an adoptee, but I practiced a little adoptee law decades ago. I wish I'd known then what I know now.

My invitation remains open to all #adopted, displaced, trafficked, stolen, bought-and-sold people—anyone who accepts (not necessarily happily) the designation “adoptee”—to be added to my starter pack. Just let me know!

Here’s hoping we’ll play a little less Bingo here! (h/t @bekhenson.bsky.social)
