I've published a new WordPress security plugin: Strict CSP. It helps mitigate cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities on the frontend and login screen (but not yet in the WP admin):

Do you like instant navigations on the WordPress frontend? Speculation rules! What if speculative loading was also in WP Admin? Check out this new experimental plugin that adds prerendering with moderate eagerness for links in the Admin Menu and Admin Bar:

Writers have been using me long before the advent of AI. I am the punctuation equivalent of a cardigan—beloved by MFA grads, used by editors when it’s actually cold, and worn year-round by screenwriters. I am not new here. I am not novel. I’m the cigarette you keep saying you’ll quit.

@briangardner.com I’m seeing this in debug logs. Powder 1.5

PHP Notice Function get_block_patterns was called incorrectly. Could not register file "…themes/powder/patterns/testimonials/testimonials-single-quaternary..php" as a block pattern (invalid slug "powder/testimonials-single-quaternary.")

Thank you @mikelittle.com! The Fair TSC team is doing amazing work and now that we are talking to hosts, there is so much we can do for the evolution of #WordPress
I installed the Fair Package Manager (@fairpm) on my personal site last night. I'm excited to say it worked flawlessly. A couple of plugins were updated from Fastly's servers, & a paid plugin updated from its servers as normal. I'm excited to see what else comes from this interesting development.

I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone that, after so long wrangling #WordPress plugins, I have a very opinionated proposal for how #FAIRPM will address things.

this is a pretty fun project!

it is basically a decentralized WordPress plugin package manager, using DID PLC as an identifier and store for package signing keys; and atproto for discovery/indexing of plugins in the ecosystem.

When rebuilding my blog with a block theme, I was surprised to find the Featured Image block doesn't support caption or lightbox, like the Image block does. I wrote two little plugins to implement these until they land in Gutenberg / WordPress core:
Adding Caption & Lightbox to the Featured Image Block - Weston Ruter
Earlier this year I re-built this site using the Twenty Twenty-Five theme, finally adopting a block theme over the veritable Twenty Twenty classic theme I had been using. In this rebuild, one thing th...
