I'm proud to be listed as a featured maintainer in a new book assembled by Nick Vidal that collects the stories of more than 50 Open Source maintainers. I've written more about the book and reflected on 12 years of contributing to WordPress in my latest post.
12 Years Contributing to WordPress
Join me as I reflect on reaching a new milestone: 12 years of contributing to the WordPress Open Source project.

On November 20-21 2025, I'll be speaking at the EvolveDigital Summit in NYC. Too often, security is treated as an afterthought or a one-time task to check off a list. But that approach often leaves sites vulnerable and owners frustrated.

Happy Sports Equinox! The "sports equinox" is when all four major North American sports leagues (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) play on the same day. While initially rare, they have become more and more common in recent years. Today is the first and only scheduled equinox for 2025.

I'm looking forward to being in Ottawa to speak at @wordcampcanada.bsky.social! My talk, "Keeping Humans in the Loop: Tactful AI in a Collaborative Community," will explore how to carefully integrate AI tools into our Own Source communities without being too disruptive or inhuman.

AI is changing how we build and collaborate in Open Source. When integrating AI into our contributor workflows, we must take great care to preserve the foundations of our communities: humanity, creativity, and collaboration.

The @wordpress.org community has done such a great job educating site owners about keeping PHP up to date. But historically, the same has not been true when it comes to the database software every WordPress site relies on.
