As I’ve said before with similar games: I stand with the weirdos on this stuff. Don’t take my vanilla output as quiet complicity with censorship of interesting work, take it as a sign of how inherently boring I am as a person.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

I don't remember when I started reading xkcd, probably around 14 years ago. Every now and then while reading the regular strips, this topic pops into my head. It's not a big part of the comic, but it's definitely the heaviest.

This time, it made me cry.

Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

For lots of reasons, I don’t like LLMs and I don’t use them, but I know there are serious people working on ways to meaningfully incorporate them into education and I don’t doubt there are ways to do that productively. It’s probably obvious that “Have the LLM tell you the answer” isn’t one of them.

Re-posting out of a thread:

It is a weird phenomenon for me to find myself having to argue this point as I thought it was self-evident but apparently not.

Big corporations would rather you buy more of their product and they found a perfect way to make sure you buy more.

As someone who grew up with parents who both lived in poverty at some point in their lives, it was instilled in me that you should get the best value out of the things you buy as you can.

You don't need a prescription for how much detergent to use. You just need to try and see what happens.

For gamers who aren't in game dev, you should know that we are in one of the worst periods in game dev history in terms of industry stability and the reason you're not seeing that play out through products is because the average development window of games is 3-7 years so it hasn't reached you yet.

Vaccines are battle training for your immune system. If you could give it intel on the enemy, why would you withhold that? Give me ALL the vaccines! I want to be prepared for everything!
As a guy who got a cancer that was probably caused by a virus, I think we should have /more/ vaccines.

the car brain cannot comprehend that I pay less than €1/day for unlimited public transport in Vienna - a city with dozens of tram & bus lines, five metro lines, and all of them come no less regularly than once every few minutes, AND I can even hire a car if I still need one from the city. 💁‍♀️

@firefox.com send tab to device feature is so very useful.

For example: get a text message on phone with link to "follow my delivery" UPS tracking. Open link on mobile firefox, hit share, and send to desktop instance of firefox.

Kudos to firefox team for that one!

Remote workers are 40% more productive than those same workers in the office. And most of us spend those in-office days on Zoom ANYWAY, talking to people in other offices.

But it makes managers sad that they can't physically see their peasants toiling in the fields, so out you go!
