The Canberra Liberals are the team with the greatest leadership experience!
Mark Parton is the new leader of the Canberra Liberals, which means 44 per cent of the current party room members (4 out of 9) have now served as leader

In most Australian jurisdictions, land revaluation is done *annually*, and it astonishes me to see the intervals at which certain other developed Western countries do this
Ontario property assessments haven't been done since 2016 and it's getting ridiculous. Suburban homes are paying much lower property taxes than they should be.

Annual property taxes:

It's offensive to me that the mini PC I have bought for home server purposes comes with two HDMI ports. It should come with zero HDMI ports. It should preferably not be capable of video output. Serial console only pls

I feel like completely headless netboot installations are a perfect application for NixOS and yet the NixOS documentation really sucks at explaining best practices for doing this

Very excited to see this come out! (yes, my very talented friend @mbowes.bsky.social co-wrote it, I'm only a little biased)
3-storey townhouses and apartments should be permitted on all residential land in all capital cities to help fix Australia’s housing crisis.

Building more homes will create cheaper housing and more productive cities. Our new report shows how. buff.ly/NfAM6C7 #auspol

No, really, I should've invested an hour in learning the b4 contributor commands months ago. Sigh
Finally actually trying out b4 to send my patch emails, it's very cool and I should've switched a while ago I think

I wonder how the non-white members of Campion College's faculty, staff and student body feel about the exact way in which their Dean chooses to exercise "academic freedom"

the subtle differences in social conventions between different kernel subsystems is kinda annoying. did something the lazy way I could get away with back "home", have been told to instead do it the proper way. the proper way is obviously better, if it were universal I wouldn't be tempted to laziness

Can confirm, a close relative of mine who used to lead fundraising for an NGO would tell me of their phone calls with donors after a big $50k donation came in, asking for permission to run a match campaign.

(Note this is different from employer donation matching!)
Donation matching is a good thing and I don't want to spoil the magic. But the *direction* of the matching is 1. they get a big donation and 2. They double it via the matching pledge. Your donation is part of the doubling, but it is the downstream part.

How many federations in the world don't either (a) run elections for all levels of government through state or local agencies (e.g. the US) or (b) have joint electoral rolls (e.g. Australia)?
I registered to vote before I turned 18 in provincial elections (you can register for the early voters list once you turn 16!). And separately had to register to vote federally at the poll. I do wish Elections Ontario and Canada and Toronto would share my information. They all have one’s address!
