We absolutely should still push MFA, password managers and other mitigations, as a) these breaches aren't the only risk in the world, b) they do help limit potential blast radius for an individual - boring old automated cred stuffing is more likely for the avg breach victim than full-on ID theft

Yeah, that example is egregious. I'm also surprised on the occasions where I've heard educated people going to LLMs for the most basic stuff like writing very straightforward emails

If their reporting that it's 7MW is correct, that's on the small end of DCs, not the large end - the old server room in my office consumed somewhere well into the hundreds of kilowatts and that wasn't a proper DC. But Google's trying to spin this as just supporting their fibre network...

I'm not sure, from a quick look at public cable maps, that there are any cables in the vicinity that don't already terminate in the Australian mainland. Certainly none that run *between* Asian countries, that just wouldn't make sense given the geography
