@schiff.senate.gov is right. What we’re seeing take place across the country–families ripped apart, communities divided, racial profiling greenlit by judges–is not who we should strive to be as a nation.

Pete Buttigieg just delivered a POWERFUL warning on how to confront political violence in America:

"An overwhelming majority of Americans left, right, & center believe governments shouldn't be cracking down on its political opponents because they are political opponents."

Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the United States government. This is a direct attack on the First Amendment.

Everyone who values freedom of speech should be outraged — and they should speak out.

Jimmy Kimmel wasn't being totally factually inaccurate, but more to he point, *he was telling a joke.* Censorship of comedians is pretty textbook authoritarian behavior.

But I will say that those extreme views were not in my White House. I wasn’t embracing them. I wasn’t empowering them. I wasn’t putting the weight of the government behind extremist views.

Political violence and threats are not the answer.

This is a watershed moment — we can choose to stay silent and live in fear, or we can choose to be loud for peace and compassion.

We must work together to stop this crisis, and it should start from the top with the President.
