I don’t mind wearing my 3M Aura N95 at work & medical settings, but feels too clinical for a concert or art gallery outing. @itsbabs.bsky.social inspired me to make coverups & chains for evening outings that make me feel pretty & still super safe! I don’t show my identity on social media so I’m modeling my masks on a metal globe piggy bank from childhood I use as my construction Judy. A white 3M Aura N95 is placed over it with a black lace mask I made with an old KN95’s black elastic ear loops and black lace from a fabric store. You can still see the some of the white mask but it shows off the leaf design in the lace. There’s also a gold chain I bought at Michael’s craft store that I adjusted for length with jewelry pliers and attached clips at each end with charms on a short chain so they dangle like earrings. The charm on this right side of the mask is a black enamel heart framed in gold metal with a gold bumble bee in the centre. The left side profile showing the other charm hanging off the gold chain attached to the black lace mask over my white N95. The charm is made up of 2 gold metal hexagons resembling a stylized honeycomb, one filled with black enamel. I also made a hot pink lace mask with a tighter weave that hides the white mask more. The lace design has branches too with small leaves and scalloped edges at top and bottom, like the black one has too. A silver chain I made from material at Michael’s craft store with silver lightning bolt charms on either side of the chain to hang like earrings is attached at both ear loop elastics and sits across the bridge of the nose. It matches a silver necklace with a thunderbolt pendant I’ve had for years that I wear sometimes.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.
