I planted potatoes today! I’m hopeful that the lady who made the video I watched knows what she’s talking about, but if not I don’t have much in it.

My food isn't Mashama Bailey's food (her food is amaaaaaazing!), but this is in my heart when I'm in the kitchen!
"I cook food to show just how much I love you," hand-printed with black ink on warm rusty paper, inspired by Mashama Bailey. I read a wonderful substack essay on "villaging" over homesteading, all to say, only with interdependence can we survive and thrive. So feed your village! #printsky #artsky

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Rand Paul is right.
The U.S. was literally founded after a tiny tariff on tea was imposed without representation — and now Trump is doing the same thing, setting tariffs without Congress, the only body with authority to tax. Even some Republicans are calling him out for abusing his power.

It would be amazing if legislators actually did something to protect women and girls from real threats or made sure that girls playing sports had the same resources as boys. But no. Of course not.
This week’s main story is about trans athletes, where the conversation around them is coming from, the nuances around competition and safety, and where it looks like things might be going. Full segment at the link in our bio.

I’m now officially on the side of TikTok where people do whatever they can to hold my attention and then donate their money from the creator fund to feed kids or pay off school lunch debt.

How the anti-vaccine movement weaponized a 6-year-old’s measles death
Anti-vaccine influencers see the child’s death as proof — not of the danger of measles, but of their own debunked theories.

Excellent read:

"Nearly half of all rural hospitals nationwide operate at a deficit, with Medicaid barely keeping them afloat. Already, almost 200 rural hospitals have closed in the past two decades"

“Medicaid cuts are going to result in rural hospital closures...It’s just a question of how many.”
Republican Medicaid cuts could shutter rural hospitals, maternity care
Potential Medicaid cuts could devastate America’s teetering rural health-care system and jeopardize Republicans’ political power among rural voters.

I don't think it's just a distraction. The attacks on trans ppl also attack privacy, bodily autonomy, medications, parental rights, discrimination laws, education funding, marriage equality, etc. I think we're a tool the right is using to erode everyone's rights in a sneaky way.
