As we go through our highlights of 2025, we can't help but think of @caradillonsings.bsky.social I Maidenhead in Feb. This was a perfect antidote to some shitty stuff a few days earlier. A precious memory.

📣 Keir Starmer: “The UK is all in. You don't protect jobs and communities by sticking with the status quo. You don't meet a challenge like climate change by standing still. You do it by embracing change, opportunity, and doing it together.” So why not back the Climate & Nature Bill? #COP30 #CANBill

Happy 75th birthday to the EHCR. The EHCR has protected victims of sexual violence, helped families seek justice after Hillsborough and Windrush, upheld dignity for LGBT+ people, journalists and mental health patients and supported peace in Northern Ireland. It needs our protection.

“The chestnut trees turned yellow,
The oak like sherry browned,
The fir, the stubborn fellow,
Stayed green the whole year round.
But O the bonny maple
How richly he does shine!
He glows against the sunset
Like ruddy old port wine.”

Does anyone know what these are on my raspberry canes? Should I cut them out (they're on this year's spent canes) or let them be over the winter? I want to be wildlife friendly.

I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday.

As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.

There's no credible evidence asylum seekers commit more crime, or are guilty of more sexual assaults. I am so sick of being force-fed lies by these mendacious thugs in their expensive suits.

Still true:
*Britain is a success story
*Most of its cities are doing astonishingly well
*Multiculturalism is popular
*Mass immigration has not led to social disintegration
*Nostalgia is increasingly weird
*Britain is incredibly safe
*Levels of social cohesion are high

68% of people who sought safety in the UK in the past year were from countries directly affected by British colonial rule.

It’s time political language welcomed people whose lives are shaped by our history instead of stoking hate that puts them in even more danger.

The obvious problem with Starmer's 'island of strangers' immigration speech
Far from 'strangers', new statistics show that people seeking safety in the UK have deep roots here, writes Refugee Action's Tim Naor Hilton.
