@cozyjamble.bsky.social for the last couple of years has written the best Mary Marvel we've had for ages. But not only that. Her work on Amazons Attack - the sixth and final issue is out today - has been beyond stellar. I'm sad it's ending, but I'm excited to see what she does on Shazam!

Had an absolutely ridiculous character idea pop into my head today and...you know, I don't know if there's a story there, but she's fun to think about.

I've caught up on The Gilded Age. What am I to do with myself now?!

Every once in a while, the world (Spotify) reminds me that Kylie Minogue, my absolute favourite non-Indian singer, once delved into my absolute favourite musical genre, Bollywood, to terrible results, in a song that just didn't live up to her standard. I got chiggy-wiggy'd again today, friends. 🙉😭

I blame my dream last night on the fact that I've been watching The Gilded Age right before I go to sleep, because it was a bonkers one. The fashion industry had taken the idea of the fanny pack to its illogical extreme and brought bustles back into fashion, for women AND men! But that's not all.

Started season two of The Gilded Age and MY GOD, I freaking LOVE Bertha Russell!

Finished season one of The Gilded Age last night, and I don’t believe I’ve ever rooted as hard for anyone as I did for Bertha Russell, and her finally getting what she wanted was just so very deeply satisfying. What a fantastic character, and again, Carrie Coon is beyond mesmerizing in the role!

So, I always knew that The Gilded Age was going to be a show that I would love, but time has been spare the last couple of years and so I've been behind on a LOT of my television watching. I *finally* started The Gilded Age this weekend, and friends, LET ME TELL YOU. This show? DELIGHTFUL.

Between Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, Shazam, and the Batman Scooby-Doo Mysteries, it's been a REALLY good comic book day, I have to say.

Made a French bread pizza for dinner last night. Nothing fancy - a demi baguette sliced in half, toasted, and then topped with my homemade spicy arrabbiata sauce, sautéed mushrooms, roasted red peppers, artichokes, prosciutto, banana peppers, olives, mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano. SO GOOD!

For the first time in months, I was actually able to get words down. 1126 words. It's a decent amount, considering I've been in what's felt like a drought for a couple of months now. Feels...good? Let's hope it continues, though. 🤞

I'm a mix and mess of emotions today. It's the first day of Navratri, which is my favourite holiday, but this year it falls on the anniversary of my father's death, and this year the dates are laid out on the same days they were the year he passed away. So it's weirdly bittersweet.

Didn’t much feel like cooking, and I remembered I had some leftover corn stock in the freezer from this summer. Used that as a base for honestly the best egg flower soup I have EVER made. Mildly sweet and silky, with corn and scallions, and finished with a little drizzle of chili crisp. SO GOOD!

You know how we kept saying when we based the LEVERAGE villains on real people, we always had to rewrite them because the real people were unbelievably evil?

Much has been made of the "end of clout" for the biggest Tweeters, but for independent journalists, Twitter was a vital utility. Its swift decline has been a real loss for small and medium-sized media outlets, indie writers and academics, and the public overall.
When Twitter Died, So Did Independent Journalism | Dame Magazine
It’s heartbreaking what ten years and a Nazi-enabling takeover can do to one of the most important tech utilities of the modern era. I speak, of course, of Twitter. Ten years ago this summer, I buil...
