YOU: I’m calling on [HOUSE MEMBER/SENATOR] to call out the Trump administration’s executive order defunding NPR and PBS. It’s clear that the executive order ignores the fact that Congress is the one who controls the funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and funding is not determined the White House.
YOU: Is Congress and [MOC] really okay with POTUS superseding established authority like this? If not, I expect [MOC] to step up and speak out.
YOU: I am also calling on [HOUSE MEMBER/SENATOR] to back legislation that would overturn the President’s executive order. NPR and PBS are accessible public lifelines for this country. PBS teach our children to be smart and curious, and helps open up the world to so many of us to programming from around the world. And so many of us get news from NPR around the country.
YOU: It’s not surprising that 43% of Americans polled by Pew, who are aware of the power of PBS and NPR, do not want funding cut. Support what the American people support.
