From the Belly by Emmett Nahil is a claustrophobic tale set aboard a whaling ship. This isn’t quite the Moby Dick you were expecting. #Horror #BookSky 💙📚 #SSBA2025

One of the weirdest things about going to a newly built or renovated airport is realizing how clean and clear it looks without this cluttering the floors and walls. All the covid signage is so ubiquitous, it feels strange when it's gone.
I've been collecting pandemic era signs that nobody can be bothered to take down or remove. There's something grimly fascinating about this. Putting them up was urgent and important; removing them is nobody's job. How long will some of these hang around?

The salt water air weathers your metal shell. You wish you were breathing it in rather than a stale, filtered version of it. Wish you could see the sky in all its brilliant nuance rather than through pared down eyes made for killing.

I really appreciated this thoughtful piece about Ta-Nehisi Coates & Ezra Klein. Andrea Pitzer says “lost” folks like Klein “don’t have a clear idea how this moment fits into history and what it is exactly that they’re doing”. [degenerateart.beehiiv.com]
You don’t have to swallow frogs
Klein and Coates show that if you don’t know what your core beliefs are, you’re going to get played.

This is a very rowdy 2WBY as we contemplate why a show about four girls keeps writing plots centered on the marginal token boy (RT if you know why)

Nothing more depressing than a new Teena Marie song popping up on YT music and being like "Oh I love her! I should see what she's up to these days." then realizing she DIED 15 YEARS AGO and this is just some AI bs that got put under her name

I credit going to a Rothko exhibit in my early 20s as being fundamental to the person I am today. I'm so much more appreciative of art and artists, so much more curious about the people behind the books I read and music I listen to because I opened my heart up to some giant canvases a decade ago.
“You’ve got sadness in you, I’ve got sadness in me – and my works of art are places where the two sadnesses can meet, and therefore both of us need to feel less sad.”
