A first novel & a good read. I didn't particularly like the characters & one part of the mystery in the plot was easily guessed but for the most part the novel kept me turning pages wondering what this supposed suicide case in an isolated island community was really all about. A satisfying read.

Finished reading this recently. Got a clear & poignant picture of Baker's personality & some of her worldview. Incredible person & life.

It would have been helpful if the editor had interspersed context, background info or explanation at times.

Anyone else read/reading this "imaginal ecology" book?

Combines a naturalist's knowledge of dragonflies with their spiritual, psychological, symbolic, mythic significance & personal meaning for the author.

"Trees share resources to overcome environmental challenges."

Ecosystems work together to overcome difficult conditions, and most people do the same, given a chance.

But we're told selfishness is not only normal, but a good thing, because that's how those who crave and gain wealth and power are.

What follows if we imagine rivers as having lives, deaths––& even rights?
I wrote this essay about water & hope; imagining rivers “otherwise”; nature’s rights; grammars of animacy; & how our fate flows with that of rivers—& always has.
It’s from Is A River Alive?

Is this river alive? Robert Macfarlane on the lives, deaths and rights of our rivers
As pollution levels hit record highs and fresh water becomes ‘the new oil’, is it time to radically reimagine our relationship to the natural world?

There is so much to see in Canyonlands National Park. Every time I visit, I find a new scene or composition. Here is a detailed shot of some of the many canyons below the White Rim.

Some ppl will do almost anything for books. 😊 In Chelsea, MI 300 ppl formed a human chain on the sidewalk and passed books hand-to hand to help a bookstore move to a new location.

See how a Michigan town moved 9,100 books one by one to their new home
Residents of a small Michigan community stood side by side to help a local bookstore move 9,100 books — one by one — from its former site to a new location about a block away.

Still Start.

A calm, misty, autumn morning commences on the lake.

After my last somewhat 'busy, city shot' a little bit of serenity to commence the working week. Hope yours is a good one... 💫
