As someone PNW born and raised, I never really expected to live somewhere at risk of a cyclone but here we are down in Brisbane, copping a cyclone which we don't usually get. Climate change!

Remember: The oligarchs who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us so they can become more powerful.

They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

Don't fall for it.

We spend pocket change on active transport in Aus but having safe places for your kids to get active and for adults to commute to work or exercise will only bring benefits, even to drivers. I've been biking for my shopping and I genuinely enjoy it so much.
Australia spends $714 per person on roads every year – but just 90 cents goes to walking, wheeling and cycling
Walking and cycling get 90c per person each year from the Australian government. What if that figure rose to $5, $10 or $15?

If you’re a federal employee, you should know this is a lie. Congress hasn’t appropriated these monies and so it’s literally not there to be spent. Also, federal agencies are limited by law to a max $25K payout in the case of restructuring.
BREAKING 🚨 🚨 🚨

President Donald Trump's administration is set to offer every single federal worker the chance to take a "deferred resignation" with a severance package of roughly eight months of pay and benefits.

Trump administration will offer all 2 million federal workers a buyout to resign
An email is set to go out to federal workers beginning Tuesday.

So about ten years ago I found a small network of bots on Reddit dedicated to spreading hate. The thing about it is that these weren't even responding to political topics - they were just responding to random keywords with insults and hate.

The same bots are now here. You should understand why. 🧵
this is kind of a niche issue but: if you are getting weird and hostile responses that feel a little off, there are some folks on here making accounts that automatically reply to large quantities of posts in a vaguely hostile manner. you can ignore them, and also, it's not personal

You know those Hallmark movies where a bookseller is trying to save their bookstore at Christmas Time? Yeah, that could be your local indie if you don't shop there! Indie bookshops RELY on the holiday season, and I'm hearing reports from a lot of shops that sales are down this year. Keep us here!

"You're *still* going on about masking?" the ableds say.

Just like they said "you're *still* going on about your pain?"

"You're *still* having symptoms?"

"You're *still* using a cane?"

"You're *still* not working?"

"You're *still* taking that medication?"

"You're *still* not better?"

Every single time I get articles with headlines such as "Climate crisis to blame for dozens of 'impossible' heatwaves, studies reveal", my only reaction possible:

Alt: animated Captain Kirk with his head in one hand, pretending to be surprised and covering his mouth with that hand.

You shouldn’t be tracked just for using public transport but that’s what’s happening on the tram in Sydney. They can collect data without consent because Australia’s privacy laws are hopelessly out of date! This needs to urgently be fixed and we’ll be trying to do just that in parliament this week.

I'm very disappointed by all the people who don't understand what this means

A little louder now.

You don't know ANY undocumented people.

You are not able to direct authorities to ANY undocumented people.

You have no idea who they are looking for.
You don't know any undocumented people.

I repeat:
You don't know any undocumented people.

Reminder: When you invest in the American people, the middle class expands, and the economy grows.

When you cut taxes on the rich, the rich get richer, and the gains don’t trickle down.

It’s that simple.

For those with the bandwidth to do so, now is the time to get into local politics. For those in blue areas, start prepping for refugees from other states. Push to build more housing, make room for new neighbors, shore up defenses. For those in red areas, do what you can. I love you.

The Greens are doing what they were elected to do. Their voters want them to push for better housing outcomes, better fossil fuel policies, fairer corporate tax policy.

It’s ok to disagree with the Greens, but saying they are just attention seeking and blocking is denying their voters.
