Parents are making increasing emotional and financial investments in youth sports. (One in 9 think their kids are going pro.) It’s a compounding factor in the push to make trans athletes a wedge issue. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

This amendment is up for a vote TOMORROW, and it's likely to be very close.

If you care about ST3, consider giving public comment either in person or by calling in, or emailing council@seattle.gov asking to reject any amendment from CM Rivera adding additional requirements to light rail permits.
A proposal advancing through the Seattle City Council aiming to streamline permitting for Sound Transit light rail projects could be hindered by CM Maritza Rivera’s amendment requiring additional public outreach and documentation.

New data finds Americans are more likely to support labor unions over Big Business than at any time in the past 60 years.

We are witnessing a historic rebirth of worker power.Β

If you want a better life for you and your children, join or support a union.

Washington State currently has a loophole that allows young drivers to wait until they turn 18 to no longer be required to complete a driver's ed course before getting a license. This loophole has produced a 70% higher rate of injury or fatal crash involvement.

Today that loophole starts to close.

Ume’s still working on her swimming behind the scenes. Current goal: face and snoot fully submerged for more than a few seconds. Not quite there yet, but she gave it her absolute snorkelest. Lifeguard (supportive tapir mom Yuna) and the care team are on standby with endless encouragement and snacks.

crazy that an influx of dense infill housing can lower prices and make homeownership more attainable
"In 2020, [Portland, OR] approved building [middle housing] on lots zoned for single family homes... A new report from the City says, it's working. 1,400 new units built in just a few years and each one is $300,000 less expensive than a typical single family home." @nbcnews.com

When we don’t let urban development happen at scale within urban growth areas, people still go outside them to split rural lots and mow down thousands of acres of land and growth boundaries get expanded leading to the same fate.
Just an update to show y'all where the urban growth boundary, which Cathy Moore said prevents sprawl outside Seattle, actually is. It goes all the way out to North Bend and includes all of the sprawl areas outside Seattle.

People love thinking up reasons why we have a housing shortage other than the actual reason:

That we don’t build enough homes. That we enacted so many restrictions we created artificial scarcity.

Let’s reverse that & make it really easy & fast to build homes. We’re working hard to do that.
No, immigrants aren’t responsible for the housing shortage. Here’s the real cause
The simple truth is that we would have a severe housing shortage even if President Trump deported every undocumented immigrant tomorrow.
