We lost the only true moral leader on the world stage.

It's immense.

But Pope Francis led by listening to the grassroots, lifting up the people's demands.

He put "ecological debt" in the climate encyclical, a concept that emerged in Ecuador's oil-poisoned jungle.

Millions of leaders remain.

"Billions of tonnes of CO2 that were locked away in the forest have already drained back out on the backs of logging trucks and in the swirling smoke of ever more monstrous wildfires. This outpouring of forest carbon... now dwarfs the fossil fuel emissions of most nations."

Striking data from the latest release of the Democracy Perception Index.

This data is published by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, a European NGO founded by the former head of NATO and the former PM of Denmark, and certainly cannot be accused of pro-China bias.

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands, time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies...

Is it a transportation policy, a health policy, or both?
Commuting by bicycle in Belgium pays off as employees earn compensation for every km they ride. 1 in 6 employees commute by bike and get a bicycle allowance of €0.28/km. People cycling to work in 2024 earned an average of around €460 net per year (some as high as €810), up 20% over the past year.
Belgian commutes pay off: Employees earn up to €810 for cycling to work
One in five people in Flanders commuted by bike and received compensation last year, but this figure is significantly lower in Brussels and Wallonia.

Fictions are everywhere around us. Some we mistakenly confuse for reality, some we wish for, some we hope nobody has thought about.

“The climate crisis reveals that our civilization has never really been organized around science, contrary to the usual Enlightenment narrative. It is organized around capital. Science is embraced when it serves the interests of capital, and is often ignored when it does not.” said Jason Hickel
