Some vaccines like COVID and flu don’t stop completely stop infection.

But they do reduce the risk of getting infected and greatly reduce severe illness risk.

They are still worth getting.

Since they are not 100% effective it’s also wise to add another layer of protection by wearing a mask.

Yet another inside-out autism research headline! This time it's
"Increased prevalence of autism in the children of fibromyalgia patients," when fibromyalgia is a common co-occurring condition for autistic people, so those autistic kids' parents are likely autistic too.

DO BETTER AUTISM RESEARCHERS!

Ask people what would make them comfortable -- do those things.
Ask people what stresses them out -- don't do those things.

This should not be a radical way of delivering healthcare.

Medicare, as of today, will no longer cover telehealth visits.

I can’t imagine a bigger slap in the face to our patients.

We found a link between SARS-CoV-2 reinfection & #longCOVID, & a post-pandemic rise in thrombotic events across all populations, regardless of vaccination or prior infection. Findings support continued COVID diagnosis in suspected cases & mask use by healthcare workers treating respiratory patients

What does a neuroinclusive healthcare office look like?

Whatever it needs to look like to meet patients’ needs. ‘One size fits all’ does not work for all.

Most doctors were never taught how Autistic and ADHD patients' physiology works.
That’s why so many patients are told their symptoms are “anxiety" and are told to lose weight, move more, and other misguided advice. Meanwhile, their neuroimmune systems rage on: allbrainsbelong.org/all-the-things

Turns out that "Ableism is greater in the medical profession than in wider society," as "a lack of disability and neurodiversity awareness, coupled with discrimination & stigma, can significantly impact disabled doctors' lives and careers." New research:

A patient said (shared with permission): "The opportunity to be heard and seen by other people that know what you go through, these connections are very healing. There's something kind of magical about that."

That's what healthcare should feel like. Healthcare is community.

Autistic & ADHD adults often live with a constellation of intertwined medical problems, including dysautonomia, MCAS, ME/CFS, hypermobility, and more. The healthcare system fragments the body into pieces. We treat it as one connected story. Because it is.

I want y’all to not be sick constantly.

Why is that controversial?
People continue to act like disabled & covid caution folks want to return to lockdowns. We don’t.

We want clean air in public spaces. Paid time off. Better access to testing. Free respirators and mandatory masking in healthcare.

Those steps would drastically reduce spread.

We still require masking at all times in the office…. My Medical Assistant has never had covid. We have never spread covid.

Just a thought.

#AutismAcceptanceMonth starts tomorrow. Please don't give to Autism Speaks; their $$ rarely supports autistic people/families, and their 'awareness' work portrays autistic people as burdens, not humans. From @autisticadvocacy.org, a good org to support instead.

Why is this important? "Many disabled people in the US get life-saving health care and services through Medicaid. But some people in Congress think the government should spend less money on Medicaid. If Medicaid does not get enough money, people across the country will lose services they need." 2/2
