Looking ahead to ‘26, progress in ALK+ #lungcancer is less about one new drug & more about how care is delivered. Earlier testing, more options when treatment stops working, & more joined up care are all areas to watch. These shifts take time, but point to more personalised & considered care. #LCSM

This week marks 7 years of ALK+ UK officially being a charity, supporting people with ALK+ #lungcancer.

ALK+ UK exists: to make sure no one has to face ALK+ alone. It's about sharing knowledge, finding comfort, building friendships, and feeling more confident to take control along the way. #LCSM

A UK clinical trial is open for people with untreated advanced ALK+ #lungcancer, evaluating a next-generation ALK inhibitor.

If this could be relevant, speak to your care team or contact the Christie Lung Research Team:

Some ALK+ #lungcancer treatments - esp lorlatinib - can affect mood, thinking & behaviour.

This was discussed in a recent Lung Cancers Today roundtable on recognising neurocognitive changes during ALK inhibitor therapy, & why spotting early matters. #LCSM

Great to see clear guidance for primary care from @gatewayc.bsky.social

#LungCancer doesn’t always start with a cough - early signs can be vague. Shoulder pain, anaemia or persistent symptoms should prompt a rethink. This is such helpful content for GPs. #LCSM

73% of people with rare conditions like ALK+ #lungcancer say they spend a lot of time explaining their medical needs to new teams.

New UK data shows more trials are starting, but fewer people are getting into them - the lowest level since 2017/18. For people with #lungcancer, where treatments like ALK+ TKIs come through commercial trials, this gap is concerning. #LCSM

ICPC has launched a global survey on how people understand and use the word “cure” in cancer.

It’s a complex term in #lungcancer, where experiences vary widely across stages and outcomes. ICPC is gathering views worldwide.

NICE will raise its cost-effectiveness threshold in April 2026 from £20–£30k to £25–£35k. This is a significant shift - for #lungcancer, esp ALK+, newer targeted treatments are often expensive. A higher threshold could make future drugs easier to approve & reach the people who need them. #LCSM

A recent TKI update highlights why newer ALK+ #LungCancer drugs are used first: stronger CNS protection + better resistance coverage.

Also recognises while lorlatinib is effective, the neuro side-effects can be tough. Trtmnt choices need to balance both.
