Announced today by NHS England: AI and robotic tools will be trialled to diagnose #lungcancer faster.

Earlier, more precise biopsies could speed up molecular testing and access to targeted treatment, including for ALK+ lung cancer. #LCSM

Tumour explants use real tumour tissue grown outside the body. For ALK+ #lungcancer, they help researchers study drug resistance and why immunotherapy often falls short. This could improve how future treatments are developed. #LCSM

This week the UK government announced plans for health warnings on wood-burning stoves.

Wood smoke produces PM2.5 air pollution, which is linked to #lungcancer. In the UK, domestic wood burning now contributes more PM2.5 than road traffic (DEFRA). #LCSM

Interesting discussion from @lungcancerstoday.bsky.social on early-stage ALK+ #lungcancer including practicalities of newer adjuvant treatment day to day - not just the trial results. Worth a read or watch.

A new early-phase #lungcancer study has opened at UCLH as part of a global BioNTech trial, testing a new combination of two investigational drugs in advanced disease.

Not for ALK+, but this kind of early combination work is vital and helps move the field forward.

Longer follow-up in ALK+ #lungcancer

🆕 analysis suggests lorlatinib delays progression longer than alectinib when used first-line, including in people with brain mets.

Not a direct comparison trial. Side effects were higher, but stopping trtmt was similar.

Jess’s Rule posters are going up in GP surgeries.

The rule asks doctors to stop & rethink when someone returns 3 times with unresolved or worsening symptoms, & to refer if needed.

Many in our community say it took multiple GP visits before their #lungcancer symptoms were taken seriously. #LCSM

The financial toll of living with #lungcancer is real & heavy.

In our ALK+ UK community, > 1/2 said they face serious financial strain.*

Lost income. Higher living costs. Travel. Treatment expenses - on top of the physical & emotional load of lung cancer.

Those with rare #lungcancer don’t fit neatly into short-term plans. Care often relies on specialist expertise, repeat testing & access to treatments over many yrs. #LCSM
