Data. Queer. Weird.

I write the T in ELT with dbt, SOGI data is my passion, I'd rather be a data journalist.
I'm back to do my white woman duty: publicly complain.

Airports that build far away gates, that build gates requiring a bus, & most especially far away gates that then require a bus. To go up f-ing stairs with carryon & 2 laptops... I'm on the 3 of 4 airplane doors. Not liking my chances.

🤚 Question: Why isn't a book like The Autobiography if Malcolm X on the banned book lists?

It can't be that it's not in libraries and it can't be that the haters don't object to it. So... what's going on?

The most impressive part of this article, was not mentioning that CVS Health gross profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2023 was $35.385B, a 12.89% increase year-over-year. #healthcare

NEW: An right-wing lawyer is seeking the names of every donor to nine Texas abortion funds.

It's part of a larger "campaign of terror"—orchestrated by Jonathan Mitchell and others—to scare people out of seeking abortions and keep them trapped in states with bans
Anti-Abortion Lawyer Wants Names of People Who Donated to 9 Texas Abortion Funds
The funds are arguing this amounts to a “hit list" intended to scare folks out of helping abortion seekers.

Lyft now has ads. I don't know how I feel about this because in theory they have debt from competing with Uber and it's better than other options like raising prices. Then I remember: advertising and ownership and mind pollution and $ and just why?

It’s important to understand that this is the way all capitalists think about all the “little people” they exploit; this one is just saying it with no filter, which happens every now and then with people who have become accustomed to thinking of their fellow human beings as food.

A friendly reminder this Labor Day that unions didn’t win weekends and the minimum wage and laws against child labor and sick leave by being nice, polite, or respectful. They won by fighting. They won by striking and struggling and being radicals. And we have to do the same.

If you think that requiring people to link their real names/identities to their online posts is a good idea that will make people more civil, I'm begging you to please read the 15+ years of work showing that it doesn't work and it endangers vulnerable people.

The police deploying drones in response to Black people celebrating the end of slavery is some shit you couldn’t write up for the funny papers.
“The move was announced during a security briefing focused on J’ouvert, an annual Caribbean festival marking the end of slavery that brings thousands of revelers and a heavy police presence to the streets of Brooklyn.”
If you or anyone you know in NYC takes anti-surveillance measures this weekend because of the drones, I'd love to hear about it.

The flaw in this is that even just basic HTML is accessible, so you literally need to actively remove accessibility with stuff Ike outline: none; There's some baked in ignorance which devs absolutely can do something about.

It's a horrible cycle. For high and low needs people. And how 'easy' it is to get needs, but people won't know, cause it's no visible.

Made all the worse by algorithmic wormholes that exploit the transphobia that still inhabits most people's worldview to capture attention and send people down further and further towards fascist ideologies, stoking ambivalence among the tepid many and an obsessive paranoia among the radicalized few.

The wrong answer to a revanchist backlash is to hunker down inside the most assimilationist aesthetics and rhetoric you can manage. The correct answer to a revanchist backlash is--within the bounds of your own sense of safety--to be as freakishly and loudly gay as you possible can.
took me a while to understand why it is so important for some queer folks to be very visibly queer.

it's people who pushed boundaries that opened any space at all for those who want to just live their life.

didn't know until they started coming for us that i would be one of the visible people. :)

Does anyone know how to get a Gipsy into Instagram's options?

Also why did it lose the normal Futurama "Take my money!" one?
