Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.

We’re no experts but this sounds like it might be suboptimal for disseminating research.

He advises you to upload content directly to X instead, where he can monetize it

Extremely disappointed after receiving a METC review forcing our international group, in a major international university, in a country where the majority in the target age speaks English, to use the local language in our study. Purely based on politics and prejudice. Weird times. 😔 #AcademicSky

Fun activity: delete your Twitter account 💫 today 💫 to depreciate the brand and thus increase their debt even further

Remember this when you criticize someone for taking support (which let’s be honest, is never much more than a few bucks) from social security to survive.
The world spent $2.4 trillion on military costs and weapons in 2023, the highest in 35 years, driven in part by the war in Ukraine and the threat of an expanded Russian invasion, according to an independent study released on Monday.
Ukraine War Helped Push World Military Spending to 35-Year High, Study Says
The outlay reached $2.4 trillion last year, a research group found, 6.8 percent up on 2022. Tensions in Asia and the Middle East also contributed.

Tip for women in science:

Don't collaborate with men who are not allies in the fight against sexism (unless you have no choice, which happens often of course).

You may think it is worth it, but really, it never is. You will end up mistreated and your ideas likely erased.

I often hear that attachment is “right-#brain” centred and that there is a general “right-brain” versus “left-brain” dominance for complex behaviours and personality traits. But this is a #myth!

Half of the cells in the brain are neurons, and the other half are glial cells.

Journalist Yasemin Saplakoglu joins us to talk about how these cells communicate with neurons and why they might be critical in how we experience pain.

The Brain’s Glial Cells Might Be As Important As Neurons
These lesser-known nervous system cells were long thought to be the “glue” holding neurons together. They’re much more.

Be wary of overconfident people who know just enough to think they are experts, but not enough to understand the limitations of their own knowledge.

Intermediate levels of scientific knowledge are associated with overconfidence and negative attitudes towards science. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
