At the end of the day, it all comes down to this. Not just the election, but people in general. This is what most of them all boil down to. People don't grow up, they just collect a vocabulary of excuses. I will never overestimate people or underestimate myself ever again.

Right, you know that thing where you like his work, but heard he has some accusations, and you kind of knew there was some drama with his ex, and you didn't really know what the truth was but you had a feeling there was something, but if you ignored it it wouldn't be real?

Time to stop doing that.
I knew this piece about Neil Gaiman was in the works, and still, I felt sick reading it.

Yes, this. And all of the replies. Everyone has a need to feel special, usually this comes from your relationships with loved ones, or from years of hard work honing a skill, building a career and camaraderie. 1/2
I don’t know if we in the US are particularly predisposed to conspiracy thinking, but I do think that a lot of people in this country want to believe that they are special.

Because the only way to be treated as a human being with rights in this country is to prove that you are special.
My guess is that, when you’re seeking out an emotion—the feeling that you’re special ‘cause You Can See What Others Can’t—it doesn’t matter how illogical the theory gets. In fact, you lean into it even harder, because it just proves you saw through a story so convincing it had everyone else fooled…

You only get one chance to make your first post when you join a social network. It should be something memorable, something that's important to you, something that actually says SOMETHING.

So obviously I'm using mine to tell @annewheaton.bsky.social that I love her to the moon and back, 1000 times.

Now seems like an opportune moment to celebrate Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, who, in the early 18th century, and in the face of great hostility, introduced smallpox inoculation to England.

Imagine being lost in the middle of all that, not a soul in sight. Depending on the circumstances, either peaceful or terrifying.

Wait, you're saying that you, a person deeply addicted to rage and petty cruelty, has discovered that unlimited rage and petty cruelty toward the right people can fix every problem in your life and the world?

Wow, how lucky for you, crazy that it just happened to work out that way, congrats
