It's clear from today's AP photos that Trump has entirely demolished the East Colonnade—added to the White House by Thomas Jefferson in 1805—and restored by Theodore Roosevelt in 1902.

The East Colonnade didn't occupy the footprint of the Trump "ballroom"—its demolition was completely unnecessary.

Bowser has been a bad mayor this whole time, but even by those standards she's really been making a heel turn lately.
DC is under siege by our own federal government, with armed military patrolling our streets & masked agents scooping up neighbors & taking them away. Our residents are afraid, hesitant to go out & to work, angry that our limited autonomy is being eroded. There is nothing welcome about this.

Good summary of DC’s situation. Other US cities have limits on their ability to raise revenue and govern imposed by state legislatures, so #DC is not alone. The dark truth is some at the state level don’t want cities to be well managed, they want a dog to kick.

Gotta say I love the energy of making the orange crush the Md. state cocktail just to get one over on Delaware.

If you missed it, I wrote about why mockery is one of the few attacks on authoritarian culture that actually works. It's because it punctures their illusions of strength and invincibility.

'Weird' isn't the point. 'Weird' is the path
Authoritarianism is about power; mockery is about removing power. A narrative that undermines the authoritarian's illusion of strength is more dangerous to their movement than any law or army.
