Breaking news: “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026, CBS said in a statement.

The announcement came days after Colbert spoke out against the $16 million paid earlier this month by Paramount, the parent company of CBS News.
Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ canceled by CBS, to end in May 2026
CBS said in a statement that it was “purely a financial decision.” The show launched with Colbert as host, executive producer and writer a decade ago.

Starmer softening his lines doesn't change the fact that he appears to wrongly believe that an immigration crackdown, not greater investment in social infrastructure, will pull communities together. It's scapegoating immigrants for the failures of politicians and our economic model.
Keir Starmer defending his comment by emphasising the + "pull together and walk into the future as neighbours and as communities, not as strangers"

Amid tonal softening, that loss of control [scale] of migration "put all of that at risk" is similar to Braverman on the scale of existential risk

Child poverty has fallen in just 12 of the UK’s 650 constituencies in the last decade - all of them in Scotland.

Across England, child poverty is rising.

Eradicating child poverty is my top priority and we’re making progress.

Labour should abandon austerity and match our ambition.

New LSE report says the UK government could lift 700,000 children out of poverty by matching our Scottish Child Payment. 👇
