The fact that most Dems seem incapable of hitting this bar is quite damning:
The path for Democrats is very clear: have good ideas, believe in them, state them clearly, stick to them, act decisively in support of these ideas, speak to the young half of the electorate, support other democrats who do these things. Follow Mamdani and Lander's example or fade into nothingness.

This. But for everything
Harvard correctly understands that it’s in a fight for its life and there is no appeasement that will save it. I wish a lot more institutions understood this.
Harvard was able to file a 72 page complaint less than 24 hours after Trump attacked foreign students. Guess they were expecting it

Do you know any really good papers modeling political systems using multi agent simulations?
Niche question, reposts appreciated.

If we are lured to use AI to…
- Scan and sum up articles bc there are too many and have no time
- Write articles bc they need to pop up and have no time
- Review articles bc we received too many and have no time
… then ✨maybe✨there is a core problem in the publication and research system

I mean, _seriously_?!?!?!?

How much more on point does it get than “We’re taking the money from poverty to buy the bombs.”?

DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FDA, which oversees Neuralink

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

This…I’m only a baby Doctoral student and this much is clear.
People have already blamed science reform for what is happening.

For 15 years I have said: If we do not get our shit together (less publication bias, higher quality, more coordination) someone else is going to implement change top down, and we are not going to like how they do it.

And here we are.

This, academia.
Re-reading this after many years. Don’t confuse a pile of bricks with useful edifices!
To the tune 🎶 of Murder on the Dancefloor 🕺:

Chaos in the Brickyard www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... - we're so busy making bricks, we forgot to assemble them into useful edifices, and now all the loose bricks are in the way!

If only there were a proven medical treatment widely available and rigorously tested that could prevent such unnecessary suffering…
Update: 15 confirmed cases. Health officials are racing to offer vaccines to unvaccinated children, they're operating a mobile unit to screen for cases, pre-treating exposed infants. Schools & hospitals are on alert.

Measles outbreaks are v hard to contain. A totally preventable situation.
🚨Measles mounts in an undervaccinated Texas county. Hospitalizations & 9 cases. Many more expected.

This may be the first big outbreak of 2025 but probably not the last, with vaccine misinformation espoused at the highest levels of government.

Wow, they really hate a LOT of people. I hate poverty, corruption, war…they are downright revelling in maliciousness and cruelty. I honestly don’t know how to deal with it.

Thank you for everything you’ve done.
