on a related note, for the first time since my ex-girlfriend broke up with me 2.5 years ago, my therapist has agreed that I'm in a good enough place to go back down to sessions once every three weeks (I was at once a week for about a year and then at once every two weeks ever since)

also thinking about how much emotional work I had to put in to be able to withstand what I can handle now... a year and a half ago I couldn't even flirt with someone without thinking I was denigrating the love I shared with my ex. a year ago I couldn't go on a first date without crying. and now!
I've been back on the apps consistently since January (AND going to a variety of queer dating events and running my OWN femme4femme speed dating event multiple times!) and I AM sad that I've only had disappointments but I also know that the only way I don't find my partner is if I stop trying

as a grantwriter, the lack of unrestricted funding is a MASSIVE burden on nonprofits. everyone wants to fund a new shiny pilot program that makes them look like innovators. they don’t want to help make your tried and tested programs that have served the community for 50 years more sustainable
The headline I feel like is that all the philanthropic donations from billionaires typically have a shitload of restrictions.
Mackenzie is like “you’re doing work to stop something horrible or to help something good? Cool. Here’s a few hundred million.” and the paper is like “wow… so novel”
Mackenzie Scott’s signature philanthropic style is giving unrestricted gifts—a rarity in the industry. trib.al/DjrurgM

the things I do for lesbianism (ordered some cookies to take to a girl I'm going out with this week because it's one of her first dates ever with a woman) (I believe dating women should be a celebration, not scary...ergo celebratory cookies)

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Carol Sturka is a stronger woman than me because when my ex-girlfriend broke up with me, I felt like I couldn't move for the better part of two years. I definitely could not muster the energy to try to figure out how the mysterious hivemind is staying connected to one another if my wife died
thinking deeply about Carol Sturka watching Helen die, losing her again when the hive abandons her (even if she doesn't want to admit it), and facing the prospect of losing her a THIRD time when the coyotes try to dig up Helen's grave... I can't take this

when I have a bad first date like tonight, I am less upset about being single for the foreseeable future (I mean, I am upset about that, but I know I'm not single because it's my FAULT or because there's anything I could do differently) and more upset about wasting a good outfit on the wrong woman

I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

sorry I'm still not over this if this musical hasn't a) played Toronto no less than 4 times in the past 20 years and b) EXISTED SINCE THE YEAR 2003 (and let's be so real, so many of the lesbians in that audience tonight were absolutely born in 2003 or later)
went to a lesbian screening of Wicked Part 2 tonight and half the audience gasped when Elphaba climbed out of that trap door...you mean to tell me HALF THE DYKES OF TORONTO (at this event) AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH THE PLOT OF WICKED AND ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS SAPPHIC SHIPS IN MUSICAL THEATRE? stoppp

need everyone's help as I try to figure out what MT song No Place Like Home (Elphaba's new song in Wicked Part 2) reminds me of... @clberner.bsky.social says it's Lost in the Wilderness-lite (which is true) but that's not it... it's something in the orchestrations that is SO familiar...

I’m pretty sure that when Miriam Shor was in Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party and sang “I need a good-natured, old-fashioned lesbian love story,” she wasn’t talking about contracting a hive mind virus and dying of head trauma and a seizure in the arms of her partner, but that’s what Pluribus gives us

I have not had the house to myself in months (I live with my younger brother) and I actually don't think there's a more elite way to spend an evening than sitting on the couch in my underwear eating fried Halloumi sticks and reading a book under my heated blanket

something i'll note is that if nuzzi ran catch-and-kill ops for rfk jr and lizza knew this prior to him being appointed as HHS, and instead of telling anyone, he decided to save it for his substack long after rfk jr had made communicable disease into federal policy, that's completely fucked
