the thing is do non-covid-conscious people even care about HIV/AIDS the way we do? do they have historical context and even understand it? or is it just another “other” to them?

It's not just about the death rate. Covid is still here; people are still developing Long Covid (Ask Me How!) and having their lives devastated as a result.

Michael you’ve been minimizing Covid for years! You’ve had long covid patients and even researchers explain to you why you can’t keep doing this in great detail and you’ve never taken any of us seriously!

You’re a long time minimizer! Of course you’re going to say this. You build your career

I will die on this hill:

it isn’t hard to say “at the height of the pandemic” or “at the start of COVID” during a podcast interview. Producers, hosts, don’t let your guests say “during COVID” like this thing is over. Correct them. Ask them to say the sentence again. This is your job.

The most important part of this article, to me, is the end.

It challenges a false binary between “long COVID” and “everyone else.”

Maybe it's a spectrum... 🧵 (1/5)

I think this comes from a good place but I disagree. A common thread in deradicalization stories is stigma: Once people start losing friends and jobs they reconsider their beliefs.

Obviously you should try to be nice to people but you also need to draw a line where you won’t engage anymore.

was JUST explaining this - do NOT validate the premise, ever. That's the fucking game. When RFK says "these people will never pay taxes" the response isn't "yes they will" it's "who cares, that's a human being, I don’t give a fuck what you say, we do not create metrics for whether someone is human"
Rfk: autistic people will never contribute to capitalism

Liberals: here are many autistic people who contribute to capitalism

Rfk: exactly, we both agree that the rest of autistic people can go in the Machine

This is why you don't legitimize a guy who wants to mass murder people.

Most psych meds have GI side effects because your GI system is basically a second brain full if its own neurotransmitters and such, and has like half a dozen interoceptive senses reporting back to your brain only 2 of which you're able to be consciously aware of.

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/

It shows any free link to an otherwise paywalled article that’s shared by anyone on Bluesky. It has legit changed how I read the news.
