To make real climate progress, we need a green economic populism that brings immediate, material benefits to the working class—tackling both carbon and the cost-of-living crisis. We can start local rn.

Trump admin Is attempting to massive cut federal transit funds, seeking to:
1–Eliminate transit account, which funds billions of $ in capital expenses for transit agencies
2–Prevent state DOTs from “flexing” funds for transit

These changes, if they occurred, would be devastating for US transit.
POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding
DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

This is super bad for US citizens, especially on the left of the spectrum. Gives this authoritarian administration potentially the power to surveil & go after US citizens on spurious "funding of FTO" grounds. This whole antifa boogeyman is being fully weaponized. So dangerous.
My NSPM-7 coverage has for weeks been met with smug assurances that there's no law for domestic terrorism. Well, the Trump admin just designated Antifa groups as Foreign Terror Orgs - for which there is a law:

New research out today with my colleague Jacob Udell on financial distress in the multifamily market. We focus on the impact on tenants, who have little say over their landlords’ financial decisions but bear the brunt of the consequences of this escalating crisis.

Check it out!
Financial distress in the multifamily market is on the rise in the United States: Multifamily loan delinquencies are at their highest rate in 10 years, having nearly doubled in the last year alone.

Seattle’s leftist insuragent currently ahead by… *91* votes! We’re so close to Seattle rolling hard for public transit and green social housing 😬
This race could come down to your vote! As of yesterday, we were just 91 votes ahead. Additional votes will be counted today.

In the 10 years since Paris, we failed to take the actions necessary to hold to 1.5C. We now face the same challenge in the next decade, but for 2C.

But now we also have to also contend with far worse #climate impacts as we try to decarbonise.

The longer we wait, the harder it gets!

"So within 5 years, I would say, we'd have wiped out the chance for 2C. Because if we say 1.5C is impossible now, effectively 2C in the early 2030s is in the same position" - @kevinclimate.bsky.social

The second biggest mayoral race will go down to the wire. @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social could win this! Another millennial leftist could triumph on a platform of left economic populism, transit, and social housing.
In early results, Katie Wilson trails incumbent Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell by 7 points, which would put her within reach of catching him in late returns. This is going to be a nailbiter.
