Thought: I launch a new video project. In it I’ll lounge in bed wearing red and pink socks and ruffly pink underwear. The title card reads Alison Draws Dick. And I do, analog style, using a reference image from oughts blogosphere era Dick Cheny baiting. Dick Cheney, dead man, Dick Cheney, savior of…

Elon Musk is getting a $1 TRILLION pay package from Tesla.

If he worked 40 hr/week, he'd be making $50 million PER HOUR.

That is a truly unfathomable amount of money -- it could end hunger, fund life-changing research, & save countless lives.

Instead, it's going to Elon Musk.

typical human problems. I have been waking up human, with a left foot that still hurts, and resolved, I hope I’ll never wake up again wondering if I am dead.

Being human is hard. And no matter how much chamomile tea I drink this remains ever true.
It is almost 6 o’clock in the morning here and I just woke up angry.
But I don’t know why I’m angry and I don’t know what I’m angry about. It must have been something that I had dreamt, but I don’t remember.
Have you ever tried that?
I better brew some great coffee before making contact with anyone

It is now publicly documented that Trump is a sex offender. Epstein confirms in the mail that Trump spent hours with one of the victims.

Also I once reported colleague sexual harassment. It was an extremely clear cut circumstance, and he was removed from campus and will never be rehired. Also, I am confident that reporting was more detrimental to me than resigning would have been.
Fantastic new work on the impact of (reported) faculty sexual misconduct.

Lurking in the findings of this paper is the reality that reporting hurts survivors (and the broader community) more than it helps.

By the way, this is a big reason that feminists and other survivor advocates call for removing perpetrators from campus.

It isn’t about punishing them. It’s about protecting the integrity of the institution as a whole. A perpetrator left in a position of power is a dangerous thing.

This has not been my experience. I am lucky in my mentors. And I believe such stories are as common as water because they are true. I am an exception. There are many good men, everywhere including in higher ed. And also, damn do we need an even understanding that policies should be followed.
Out of the three colleges I’ve attended, two had a president step down because of sexual misconduct during the time I was connected to campus.

Larry Summers is another reminder that part of why universities respond so badly to sexual violence is because there are powerful perpetrators within them.

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not just the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.

“Today we stand in a moment that will decide whether our government belongs to the American people, or to those who prey on them.”

NEW: ProPublica has found multiple cases of women with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

Tierra Walker, a 37-year-old mother, was told by doctors there was no emergency before preeclampsia killed her.

Epstein survivors have been fighting since 1996. THEY are the reason anything has come to light.

Excuse me, pardon me. The Epstein files are not yet released, cant tell if the federal government is again governing or not, and our representatives are busy whinging (spelled like the brits because oh the fuvk well) about being investigated?

I would rather babysit children who set the clocks back.
tl;dr:

House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution effectively declaring Senator Lindsey Graham to be a ridiculous twit

Is BALLS Cabaret on this week?

Why yes of course! And it's our last show before Mondo Fest 2025♣️😍🤹

Will our beloved circus friends turn up to throw one last coat of varnish on their main stage acts? There's only one way to know for sure!

I think that if you say that assaulting a 15-year-old isn’t really pedophilia, or is substantively different/less bad than assaulting a younger child, *on television*, you shouldn’t be able to have a functional life outside your home. People should be telling you what kind of person you are all day.

Easier said than done. Also the last time I talked to such folks they hung up on me, so probably not that.
This is a good thread because it goes beyond "get a lawyer" and into "here's the sort of lawyer you need and how to find them."

Five years ago in heavy lockdown Mn Artists Presents Alison Bergblom Johnson created a space for disabled artists who had worked in disability specific contexts or mainstream contexts to share work and build community at The Walker Art Center.

I am really proud of that moment and of many others.

like i know this is not new, but in the current geopolitical moment I cant think of anything more important to our collective safety than the integrity of the current vp, a man whom writes tall taleish memoirs about his ancestral home town for people from away to pity.

and on Vance someone said they thought he said something treasonous during the campaign.

Surely they cant be talking about this bit on a podcast about certifying the 2020 election because everybody heard that. Everybody talked about it. Anybody got any guesses.

I’ve been meditating on lots of things including J.d. Vance.

Its possible for a human to have authentic vibes and not feel authentic. This is how I feel our vice president (from a great distance, have never touched him nor eaten with him).

What I learned from Miss Major was persistence and also keeping a sense of humor. I was lucky to see her work in various organizing meetings over the years. She was a model of how to be a good elder. Truly grateful for everything she did to make the world better. Time for the rest of us to continue.
