I am the husband in this story. With some tweaking, these turnover/biscuit/dumpling thingies were pretty tasty!
From a colonial Virginia family, Blanche Joyner made some apple dumplings that won her a spot in the first #Pillsbury #Bake-off in 1949. We found them to be bland with a tough crust but... she won her regional competition with it. Here's her story.
