It's tuly embarrassing to watch lawmakers act like they are powerless as to the implementation of the law.
Fucking state of this. Acting like they are completely powerless to do anything since the SC judgement.

Any new way of including people without amending the Equality Act will just be all-new segregation, now with added ‘dignity and respect’.

I've just listened to this brilliant podcast episode with @zackpolanski.bsky.social talking to Shon Faye.

It's on audio already, but is premiering on YouTube at 7pm tonight if people want to watch it...

It's a great intro to trans topics (without the 'both-sidesing')👏💕

From someone I know on FB;

About Dr Beth Upton, who is the REAL victim here, although you wouldn't know that from looking at the media;

-the victim of transphobic court procedures,

-the victim of a viciously transphobic media
and
-the victim of a transphobic hate campaign.

THIS IS EXACTLY IT!!!

It's NOT the 99% vs the 1%. That 1% includes doctors, writers, engineers, all manner of workers

The 1% refers to wealth, not income - at 1% you're at around £3.1m. That level of wealth - while indicative of a well off person - isn't utterly obscene.

99.999% vs the 0.001%
This is obscene.

That others in politics can’t or won’t say that this is obscene hits at the heart of the problems we face.

We are the 99.999%.

Tax the super rich.

Happy #HumanRightsDay!

Starmer has chosen to mark it by... kicking off negotiations on how to water down our human rights 🤯
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The ECHR protects all of us, so we should all be worried about changes that amount to "human rights... except for those people"
European nations to begin major talks on ECHR migration rule changes
The talks are the most significant sign yet that international human rights law could be reinterpreted.

If we don’t fix rampant wealth inequality, we’re unlikely to fix any of our other crises.

Only one UK party promises to tackle this head on.

The fact that Starmer is joining forces with former fascist youth activist Giorgia Meloni to "cut off the far right" demonstrates exactly how disingenuous this is.
The Anti Human Rights Group: Keir Starmer - UK 🇬🇧, Giorgia Meloni- Italy 🇮🇹, Mette Frederiksen - Denmark 🇩🇰, Christian Stocker - Austria 🇦🇹, Bart de Wever - Belgium 🇧🇪, Petr Fiala Czechia 🇨🇿, Kristen Michal - Estonia 🇪🇪, Evika Siliņa - Latvia 🇱🇻, Gitanas Nausėda - Lithuania 🇱🇹, and Donald Tusk - Poland 🇵🇱.
On Human Rights Day 2025, Keir Starmer is calling to get rid of the European Convention on Human Rights with Mette Frederiksen, Giorgia Meloni, and several other European leaders.

I think it's actually more insidious than this. Religion routinely teaches people there's meaning and holiness in community and connection with the rest of humanity, but simulation theory teaches that only a sacred few are smart enough to notice they're players in a computer game full of NPCs.
"We live in a simulation" is honestly just religion for people who think they're too clever to be religious. It's looking for meaning and order in the chaos of existence.

Linehan has been reported to the police for stalking Dr Beth Upton. It’s so bad, so OTT it’s almost beyond belief.
Whoever advised Linehan he is free to publish what he wants from the USA is a fool. He’s still 100% liable under our criminal law.
The CPS were reckless in emboldening this monster.

The @nionwomen.bsky.social petition has now zoomed past 70,000 signatures! These are cis women who support trans people’s human rights.

The transphobes can get nowhere near this figure. “Gender-critical” transphobes do not speak for women.

Me, in The Guardian today:
