My colleagues across the aisle just called our fight to protect Social Security “garbage.” I’m sorry—WHAT!?!?

Seniors, veterans, children, & people with disabilities are not “garbage.”

We don’t work for billionaires. We work for the people. And, we will continue to fight like hell for them.

Petition: Take our trains into public ownership | We Own It
The government is taking railway operators into public ownership, but the trains themselves will remain in private hands. The government must take our trains into public ownership.

Some personal news: meet my new replacement at the all new Observer newspaper.

Yes, it’s Facebook’s very own Nick Clegg. Congrats to everyone involved in this absolutely stellar signing. Take a bow.

Notable how the UK under Starmer sometimes, if you squint & mainline some hopium, can look briefly advantaged by being unhitched to the EU but then reality/Trump bites & you realise that Brexit, always an act of unutterable stupidity, has made an already awful situation immeasurably worse for us.
❗️The future of Europe is not going to be decided by Russia or by Washington - President Macron in his address.

He emphasized that Europe needs to be able to defend itself and increase military spending, re-industrialize Europe and transform according to the new global context.

Anyway, all the commentators, presenters, hacks & politicians who bigged up austerity, Brexit, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Donald Trump etc will be back at work tomorrow, making massive new mistakes without a thought for the damage they do or the misery they facilitate.

Someone should write a book…

This week the Guardian's owner, the Scott Trust, gifted the 233-year-old Observer to Tortoise Media.

This isn't just a dark day for journalism, it's a sign.

Meet the team.

This is Putin giving Tortoise's energy advisory board member an 'Order of Friendship' medal in 2017.

“You have run roughshod over the Scott Trust values of integrity and honesty. You have not met your responsibilities as leaders of this organisation. It is damaging for The Guardian and you should all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.”
