Ukrainian soldier Vitalii Ovcharenko sends a message to President Donald Trump from Dobropillia, near Pokrovsk.

"Mr. Trump, I'm from Donbas - why should I give my home and my region to Russia? Donbas is Ukraine."

Do you think Trump hears this message?

This is just nonsense from the Daily Mail (yes, Burnham might think it is feasible but he - or his advisors - are deluded). But might the Daily Mail possibly have an ulterior motive for pushing this narrative?

I don't always agree with Starmer.
However:
He's easily the best PM we've had for 14 years.
I like that he's 'solid' rather than charismatic.
His international profile is strong.

Feck off with the challenges.

Despite recent Tory removals, changing PM mid-term when he commands a majority would be unusual

And a fair amount of why Starmer is disliked comes down to malice from Corbyn fans and Russian manipulation

The Question is not will Ukraine be defeated by Russia

BUT how long Putin will survive if the war drags on.

Russian economy is in trouble, losses are mounting

Ukraine and Europe are uniting and getting stronger

USA is becoming irrelevant and distracted

This is not a sign that Ukraine is winning the land war, but its an important sign that the doom laden narrative (ukraine has "no cards" Ukraine will collapse) is wrong. Watch out, this narrative is being used to try and convince Europeans that Ukraine must take a terrible deal.

Just sent out my free weekend update. Was quite a week in the land war, started with great doom for Ukraine and ended with the Ukrainians pushing the Russians away from Kupyansk and advancing in a week twice as much as the Russians advanced in 4 months. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

They are worse than Labour and Tories, increasing Council Tax, reducing services, wasting money on consultants.

On top off that a high rate of turnover of Reform councillors.

And it saves lives!

In 2024 at least 73 died crossing the Channel (some say 85).

This is due to overcrowding, boats sinking, drowning & suffercation.

In 2025 it has dropped to under 30. Each death is still a tragedy, but the decrease is welcomed.

Stopping the boats entirely will end deaths.
