And this is how the far right gains power - create scapegoats for austerity policies. The disembowel of the welfare state is accompanied by immigration crackdowns for a reason.
This weird thing in German political discourse where the Govt argues that if they just deport enough people, the crime in urban areas will stop. It’s racist and dishonest, and when you call it out they say it’s neither. Just spend the money on jobs, housing and healthcare, you clowns.

Marrying a U.S. citizen does NOT automatically grant a green card. 1.5 million US citizens are married to an undocumented spouse who cannot adjust their status because there is NO way to do it.
This puts all their family members in emotional limbo.
New research reveals the profound impact on mixed-status families—where at least one family member lacks legal immigration status. 🧵

Our upmost priority in Syria should be to breakaway from victimhood, before it becomes a breeding ground for new forms of societal oppression. Traumatised Syrians, many of whom have lost everything, are in desperate need of care, understanding and attentiveness.

Syria urgently needs political parties to represent its broad political spectrum. By blocking them, Al-Sharaa creates a void that confines Syrians to identity politics. The longer we linger here, the likelier any future parties will be built solely along religious/ethnic lines. A disaster.

Sylvia Federici wrote this 40 years ago regarding the anti-war movement and the feminist movement. Could take the exact same statement and apply it to Palestine today.
