This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

I thought the (obviously AI-assisted) MAHA report might provide the context for a concrete example of how LLMs fabricate citations. It was even easier than I thought. Neither of the first two citations exist, and even similar papers with that title don’t support the claims made.

It is a little weird to me countries aren’t more aggressively, formally trying to take advantage of the U.S. science brain drain. Once in a lifetime opportunity to buy low on Non-Dumbass Americans with PhDs who just wanna look into microscopes and quietly cure ass cancer as our country eats shit.

Pennies are essentially worthless. But if I stole 7 billion of them from Mark Zuckerberg, I think he’d call that theft.

Aspire 9.2 new dashboard features, day 11:

'WithHttpCommand' is now a first-class citizen, allowing you to invoke HTTP endpoints from the dashboard 🌏

The example below demonstrates a command that calls the '/reset-db' endpoint on a resource.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

I admire President Macron for saying this right to Trump‘s scowling face:

“I support the idea of Ukraine being compensated first.”

“Second of all, those who paid should be compensated, not by Ukraine, by Russia. Because they started the war.”

Fucking glorious.

It’s pretty much all mismanagement. Adopting new tech prematurely? Mismanagement. Changing creative direction in production? Mismanagement. Iterating on content 3+ times? Mismanagement. Adding major features in production? Mismanagement.

Poor planning, failure to follow plans - all mismanagement.
Why do video games cost so much to make these days? A recent NYT article pinned bloated budgets on the graphical arms race, but that's only a small part of the equation. The real problem? Rampant mismanagement.

This week's column is a spicy one: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
Why So Many Video Games Cost So Much to Make
Graphical fidelity is only part of the reason that game budgets have swelled to hundreds of millions of dollars

the entire "pivot to video" strategy that destroyed many of the sites you used to love was based on Facebook lying about video metrics, convincing everyone that was the only way their content was getting shared

they half-heartedly "apologized" for this years later, leaving burning wreckage behind
As a reminder, Facebook had a giant hand in the death of online journalism in the mid 2010s because they inflated metrics that caused publications to crash and burn. Many of us haven't trusted it in a long, long time.
